Ever since I got my 4870 I haven't been able to play Bioshock in DX10 mode. This is in Vista 64 Ultimate SP1. When I try I get through the menus, but when it comes to starting a game the screen goes dark with a very feint image of the loading screen and gets stuck.
I can play DX9 no problem full screen. I can play in DX10 mode if I select Windowed mode. Once a game has been started I can switch to full screen mode, but after a return to the menu it will freeze again.
I know its a bit old now but I really like bioshock, and the extra smoke and water effects in DX10 mode look really good IMO. Anyone else get this?
