Problem with GRID demo (problem solved)

I just downloaded and installed the GRID demo.

When the main menu is on the screen it looks like this:

I'm unable to play this game this way, I also downloaded the patch, when I try to install it it says that I don't have the game GRID installed I guess the patch does not work with the demo:(

I have the latest drivers installed.

I guess no one here tried the GRID demo..

:ohwell:

i beleive there is now a 1.1 version of the demo available

TRy a fresh download. Maybe corrupted.

I've tried GRID on Q6600 with 3850. No problem. (But rubbish IMO)

I tried the demo worked fine for me with a Q6600 + 3870x2 although the game ran alot faster with driver 8.5 it was slower with 8.4 theres obviously been some optimization done im htting 80fps with everything on ultra high now and my cpu isnt even overclocked atm.

Ive now got the full game with patch 1.1 installed and the improvements are very noticable this its self improved overall frame rates as well as other bugs.

your problem looks graphics related for shure try another driver? or try modding the graphics settings by file modding i think you can mod the files in my documents /codemasters turn everything to low but dont forget to backup origional files first.

problem solved

The problem is solved, I upgraded to Vista SP1 recently and I bought the full version of the game GRID, and installed the 1.1 patch.

It just did not run on Vista w/o SP1

This is one of the best racing games I've seen, supurb image quality and high framerates, codemasters sure know how to make racing games:rockout:

Also nothing beats the demolition derbies.

But those cars are so hard to control!

I'm using a microsoft sidewinder (gamepad)

Doesnt that have analogue sticks? Im using an xbox 360 controller so it isnt that difficult to get the right angles for drifts and powerslides.

if its the original sidewinder then its digital only and probably almsot impossible to control the cars in grid :(

u need analog sticks as a minimum really pointless trying to use digital.

I did a search on google and I found there are many microsoft sidewinder gamepads...

I probably have one of the first sidewinder models.

Works quite ok for me, but some cars are really hard to control.
I think it's just the cars itself in the game, has not specific to do with my gamepad.

Is it possible to see a different view in the upper right corner as :

It's either not a pc version or they just put it there manually when the edited that video?

as it only appears to have a standard d-pad id guess its probably only digital instead of analog ,would explain your problems with car handling.

really you would be much better off using a pad with analog sticks or a 360 pad.
that sidewinder is a newer model than the one i had a few yrs ago :)

If you keep the stick from an analog pad a little to the left, would the wheels from the car just slightly turn and stay in that position?
So you would have the control of the turning angle.

With my gamepad, it is just left or right, no control of the turning angle, if I press the left x -axis then the wheels turn all the way to make a left corner and the same for right.

Any suggestions for a new pad?
I don't need too many buttons on it, just a decent design that lays good in my hands and it should be a perfect controller for GRID racing , NFSMW, gtaIV

Thanks in advance:)

Yes your Pad is most definatly digital from what youve said ,and in answer to your question, yes the stay in the position as long as u keep the stick in that place.

as for Pad suggestions, these days most ppl seem to prefer using an Xbox 360 pad on their PC which from what ive read is highly recoomended.

I use a Logitech rumblepad 2 cordless,but im thinking of buying a 360 Pad.
