Recentry I bought by second hand a RTX 2070super. The GPU works well till I launch any game. Doing some test I found when the GPU reaches a specific Mhz in the core the game closes to desktop. I can partially solve this by lowering the core Mhz -200mhz. Also I noticed that the PSU voltajes aren´t stables when stressing the GPU, the 12v pci conectors go down up to 11.601v and even to 11.502v.
I reinstalled Windows from scratch, so i think that the problem it´s my PSU. My PSU is not from a goob manufacturer and cant mantain stable voltajes, my model is below
My SPECS:
i7 4790k OC 4,6ghz with 1.21v
Asus z97 progamer
2x8gb 1866mhz
SSD sata crucial
GPU gibabyte rtx 2070 super three fans version
PSU Tacens Mars Gaming Radix vii 700w plus silver.

Pls help me.

I dont know at all. Before this Rtx 2070s I was using a gtx 1060 6gb and there was no problem but the voltajes were like the photos. I need to check it in other PC with a good PSU.

Software readings are not to be trusted but yeah that PSU can definitely be the problem. The 2070s uses a lot more power than the 1060, and an overrated and generally weak and old PSU would explain why you're stable when downclocking.

I had thought +/- 5% was the acceptable range for ATX +12V power?

Get a new PSU from a decent brand, even if it doesn't fix it you'll have peace of mind.

My concern is it crashing to desktop and not crashing the system entirely, that makes me think it's not the PSU but the GPU. If a new PSU doesn't fix it you might have gotten a mining card that got beat to crap. I wouldn't touch second hand GPU's with a 10 foot pole right now.

Is your gpu connected with a single cable or dual cable for power? I have attached a picture you need 2 different cable rather than one cable looped for best power delivery since these cards pull a lot of power.

I used to have corsair VS550 PSU with a single cable to gpu and voltages dropped to 11.1 Volts simply because psu can not handle it. I have replaced it and it is much better. As far as i remember ATX spec for 12V rail is between 11.4 to 12.6 so it technically is okay but as long as it doesnt drop to 11.4 volts but still better psu is a good investment and ease of mind.

even tho your Psu is not the best but 11.6v is fine when pulling a load. id be leaning towards the unthinkable the gpu at fault or if you are using a riser cable maybe that.

Yep, ctd is most likely a bad GPU unfortunately. Not that the PSU is a great one but I doubt swapping it will help.
Let us know how it goes when you test the 2070s in another system OP.

My PSU has only a single cable like the firts one in the photo. I can share the PSU I have bought 5-6 years ago https://www.pccomponentes.com/tacen...jvYa47_b7FqZ72yAzfBsB9d80cAPd-hoCWScQAvD_BwE-

I can partially solve by decreasing the core speed around 200-300mhz. The problem is when its working at default speeds usually 1900-2000mhz. Also consider that my PSU its 5-6 years old from a bad manufacturer https://www.pccomponentes.com/tacen...7jvYa47_b7FqZ72yAzfBsB9d80cAPd-hoCWScQAvD_BwE

It may be because there is enought enough watts to mantain the pc ON. At least the PSU can supply 612w in the 12v rail. But i dont know, before the 2070s, which has 1x6pin and 1x8pin, I was playing with the 1060 6gb, which has 1x6pin.

Ah right, like berkkocaturk pointed out, having both 6 and 8 pin connectors on the same cable is likely a big problem.
Do you know anyone that you can test your card with? Or are you going to have to buy a new PSU?

Hello paisano. Let's talk in English (or al least try it) because I suppose is the right in an English forum.

Now I see you have a Radix model that is a semi decent model; al least has PFC (active I believe). In the op message you mix 2 diferent models: Radix and Mars Gaming, that's totally garbage like said before.

Although many people says all Tacens PSU are garbage, I think that leastways the Radix ones are usable, but that error seems PSU malfunction. Maybe it is failing by the age.

Instead down the frecuency of the gpu, down the "power limit" to 75-85% in afterburner; this will drop the consumption more than the frecuency but this won't drop so much.
