I was informed that the Xigmatek Dark Knight is compatible with AM2+ which means it
fits with AM3 which my motherboard is :M4A79XTD - EVO but i'm having trouble fitting it,
The clip isn't long enough and it only fits in one side, so it doesn't sit square on the CPU,

Is there anything i can do??

You're not doing it right. Clip goes on one end, then you clip then latch the other end.

Keep at it. I know it works. You set the cooler on the processor, clip one end to the rentention bracket, attatch the other end and move the lever to tighten it. It is one of the more simple ways to attatch a cooler. Just keep trying. It may be best for you to take the motherboard out of the case.
