Well i use ATI Graphic cards for almost 5 years too, and never had a problem, i'll download the latest drives then. The last graphic card i had was a X1600 Pro, and it was a very good one, i played CoD 4 with a finest 50-80 fps ( which is very good for CoD 4 :p ) and i bought this new computer mostly to play Assasssins Creed, Call of Duty 4, Lineage 2, UT 2008 and some more.. This are the Extreme Consume Games :p

Thx all

Although many who dont use ATI try to spread the rumour that their drivers are crap, they actually are very good and stable, i havent had a single driver issue in 6 years of using every single drivers over 4 different cards.

So you are safe to use the latest release on www.ati.com, which is the 8.6 drivers atm.

I have used many of the recent ATi cards and the drivers are unstable with a high OC.

Using third party drivers makes the same OC stable. Thats your frame of reference.;)

Well i've been using my HD3870 now and i saw something last night when i was playing CoD 4, just working normaly the temperature of the card is arround 35 - 40ºC but when i run the game , after a few minutes, it goes to 55 - 60ºC is this normal? or do i have to buy some kinda of shower for it? :p
btw, with this card, would i have a good performance improvement with and OC? or theres no use to try it?

60C is normal for load , and its not much at all.

My 3870 with a zalman on silent mode goes 40C at idle and 60C on load too.

Make sure everything is seated properly- aka reseat cards, and cables, if this is a new build, make sure the HD is clean of anything, meaning no OS etc. Other options, try a different powersupply (unsure if your company is well known) Other Option, try the videocard in another machine or try a different one in yours.

I just bought a new pc:
Asus P5Q Pro
Intel E8400 Core 2 Duo
Kingston 1gb ddr2 800mhz x2
Asus Ati HD3870/512mb/DDR4
Nox Urano 600w

I have just conected everything, installed Windows Vista and from time to time the pc just blocks, it can take 5 seconds, 5 minutes or even 30 minutes, theres not a specific time, i think maybe it can be from the Graphic card.

Any sugestions? :x

Well problem solved. It was really a energy problem.. i traded my PSU for an OCZ 600W StealthXStream because my NOX Urano 600w dind't had the 8 pin cable i was talking about, so i traded it, conected everything and its working properly finally i can start using my computer after almost 1 week when i bought it.

Thx all.

bzuGu
