I have build a new system with the Asus Z170, 16GB DDR4 2666 and a R9 290x

Going on for the first time - no problem, well it was a boot without the R9 290x to check memory and cpu.

Installing the GPU and tried to disable onboard Graphics, no such luck. Machine wont boot and gives system beeb

I can only boot with onboard Graphics as primary, and sometimes I have to remove and add the GPU in WIndows 7 to activate the R9 290x.

Any one with the same problems, the R9 290x ran in previous build without problems.

A bios update to version 1102 made the system unstable and later on die. A quick RMA and a new board, but still same problem. Unfortunately I had a raid setup, and the partion could not be saved. So for now, not very happy with my Asus Z170 Pro Gaming board

Update: Still no fix, perhaps Building a new Skylake setup soon and going to test cpu then.
