okay. so i have a DLINK RANGEBOOSTER N DESKTOP ADAPTER that is not working.

i am not very good with computers so i need some help. i have tried 3 different drivers for it: ver. 2.30 for Vista 64-bit from dlink support.com, atheros v7.6.1.162, and atheros v7.3.1.109. only the atheros v7.6.1.162 worked and only halfway at that. it detected the wireless network, i even had 5 full bars of reception however it still wouldn't let me connect to the internet. The others (including the drivers supplied by Dlink that came in the box with the adapter) wouldn't install properly and came back with CODE 39 Drivers not found or corrupted.

In the other drivers cases i can't even detect any wireless networks in my surroundings. The only other computer i have access to right now is a laptop that i am working off of. i have tried calling Dlink support but have to wait for a callback from a special technician.
Please help me!! Thank you!

also: have a DLINK Router model type WBR-1310

make sure its not trying to use its own software, let windows take care of the connection.

do you have WEP/WPA/WPA2 enabled on this wlan?

what version of windows (specific to service packs too)

i have worked in wireless support before so hopefully we can get to the bottom of this :)

so update: i have formatted the computer and put vista back on but the problem now is that the computer is not detecting the wireless card at all.
Right before formatted the computer i had it almost working, it would detect the wireless network at my house but wouldn't connect so i know that the card is in and it's working but all the drivers i try tell me to put the card into a PCI slot when i know it's already in.
it's not listed in the device manager and vista can't find any drivers or software for it to automatically install it. we've had to manually look for stuff each time.
Help please and thank you!
Lauren
