Rain was the worst thing about PC1 for me. Granted I was playing on KB, but still, it's really annoying when you get a good result going the first couple races, then have this slippery as snot rain ruin your outcome on the last race. IMO if they want to make it that much harder to drive in rain, they should have rain as an option you can turn off in singleplayer mode.

It wasnt just the visual performance, the game actually seemed to favour Nvid with lap times too. I am consistently 2-3 seconds quicker round Nords in formula A using Gtx 970 as opposed to HD 7970 ( played with Gtx 680 too...same)

This happens in pCARS2 again, playing on a A12-9800 I manage to get way better laptimes compared to the A10-7860K - but the frame rate is roughly the same.

Well at least some of what I've read is promising. The latest patch for instance supposedly fixes AI so they suffer the same limitations as the player in rain events. And that's just one of many many changes. Seems like they rushed this release.

Apart from that maybe they should implement "RealWeather"(c) like in flightsims.... so it would be (or should be, hahah) same for all.

I just check my game stats, never payed attention before. I have more hours in 3D Mark (160 h) than in Prject Cars 1 (84 hours). So maybe I should forget PC2 for a while and go play PC1, damnit! LOL

Disconnected during a 40min race and I crashed, too angry and mad to play project cars 2 for a while haha. It's happened with DiRT Rally too.

Really disappointed in the wheel tbh, only 2 years old and I've already had to replace the load cell and mainboard in the CSR Elite pedals. Now it's disconnecting intermittently.....


I am quite liking the physics in pCARS 2 though, and the rain effects are epic.

Found a few weird glitches-

Getting the tyres up to temperature is usually too hard. For exampe at the Algarve at midday in summer with the sun shining it is impossible to keep slicks warm on the formula rookie car, even with the pressures right down. So I had to use rain tyres. The AI can use slicks without problem .
This seems weird seen as SMS have obviously put so much work into the tyre/weather model.

On some track/car combos the AI has a cheating speed bonus on the straights but slows down a lot for sharp bends which makes racing against them pretty unconvincing sometimes.

The AI difficulty is very inconsistent, sometimes I can thrash them at 120% difficulty, other cars/tracks I'm struggling to keep up with them at 70% difficulty. Possibly related to the aforementioned speed bonus they seem to get on certain straights at some tracks.

Just to note I'm seeing these glitches on the first single player season with formula-R cars. This really should have been sorted as these are the first races most players will race on starting the game.

I hope these glitches get sorted out, they shouldn't be too difficult to patch. As is, the single player race seasons are badly compromised- I don't want to have to restart races all the time to reset the difficulty to avoid lapping the field/being lapped by the field.

Unfortunately it seems too common that race games lately have inconsistent AI difficulty. It makes sticking with one difficulty setting almost impossible. I also feel if they really want credit for putting time into tweaking tire/weather (and AI), they need to have at least 2 or more devs working on it, and they need to test it better before the game or patches are released. Otherwise it feels like one guy is assigned the job and they just trust it to be done properly, without even knowing for sure. It also needs to be tested on several control devices.

I don't think I do. I had a G25 previously that lasted about 6 years until some sensor in the wheel broke, and an ancient Thrustmaster Force-Feedback GT wheel which lasted about 7 years before that.

I rarely use my wheels just because they take some time to connect up and disconnect once again, and I don't have much free time anymore since graduating from uni. Over the past 2 years I've probably used my Fanatec GT2 about 5-8hrs a month.

This being said, I love the onboard adjustments and tweaking you can do with Fanatec wheels.

I noticed this too, especially with different weather. I annihilated the AI in the Group A MB 190E when it was raining at Hockenheim (almost lapped the last placed AI) but struggled to finish in the top 5 in the dry at Nurburgring GP. Quite odd.

I have finally had chance to settle down in peace and give this game a good test on my T300RS and so far even tho the game has its bugs i am really enjoying it personally.

I did give it a try on my Logitech F710 before i had chance to setup my wheel and seat and unlike project cars 1 it is a lot more enjoyable and playable on a pad now.

I ended up getting the controller (xbox360) pretty well dialled in for PC1 in the end but only after increasing the steering sensitivity gradually and learning to cope over time.
As far as I can tell, high sensitivity is needed to react to snap oversteer but higher sensitivity makes the controller more twitchy so you have to be gentle.
The quicker you want to go the more damping of controller causes problems.
Would have been nice if the settings had been better out of the box, for sure.

In PC2 I found the stock settings much better but still found benefits to increasing the steering and braking sensitivity. Braking is much more of a thing in PC2.

I'd love to get a wheel but even apart from cost I don't really have space to set one up.
