proper HDD formatting

Hey guys, just bought a new hard drive [4TB] and was wondering how should I properly set it up?

my plan:
- format it as GPT using built-in Windows 7 disk management [full non-quick]
- run hd tune pro disk error check overnight

this should be fine right?

-are there better formatting options than the windows 7 disk management?
-do i need to low level format it first?

HD Tune is redundant. Full format checks for errors as it formats (quick doesn't). If the hard drive is new, there's no reason to erase it ("low level format"). Windows 7 Disk Management does a well enough job and yes, you need to use GPT to access all 4 TBs on the drive.
