Thought I'd get a thread up about it, talk about it here if you so wish to do so.

Just installed it, seems to have files for using DX10. About to start it up, and I'll share my impressions of it later, but what does everyone else think so far?

Quick update, just tried it, and it looks awesome. Everything on high details, but no AA, no AF, 1680x1050, running perfectly, even with this 8600GTS, I'd say easily getting a steady 35-40fps, since it never once slowed down. Even with all the cars on the start line, and smoking their tires.

Quick screenshot I took too, from like, the 4th retry (that M3 you're given to start with in the demo really doesn't have much downforce, so it just flies off), this time, managing to go on to finish the race, and get 2nd (5 other cars all totalled, lol, and their cars don't disappear from the road either, which is nice):

Graphics are good, but it depends how much depth and variety is in the full game as to whether I'd buy it, and the demo doesn't really tell you that... Doesn't let me configure my joypad either, so hard to judge the handling (deliberate???). If Simbin could match these graphics with their physics model it'd be the racer of all times IMO!

Skyline after being roughed up a bit. Rear bumper hanging off
Really shows the damage modelling to its fullest. Very nice work there.

Pre-race party or sumat, from the second race event in the demo. Shows really good work on moving models about. Movements are fluid, and realistic. Something games are still sometimes incapable of doing.

I turned AA to 2x, and AF was on (no setting for 8x, 16x, etc.), I didn't notice much difference, but it definately didn't make image quality worse. This is a very good looking game.

True, Simbin could really have a winner, if their graphics were better. To be fair, GTR2 looks a whole lot better than GTR, but GTR had a slightly better handling spec, since the cards were heavier, more unpredictable, fun even. But the Starforce protection really killed it for me, since I moved to 64-bit XP, and it didn't run on that :(

I had to restart the game, I've got a Logitech Chillstream, it's detected as an XUSB controller (works just like it, configured perfectly, no need to calibrate, just missing rumble, which is fine, since I'm not a huge fan of that), but only after I restarted the game. First time round, only allowed keyboard to be chosen.

The handle is a bit off, yes. If you've ever used a Mac, and thought "hmmm, the acceleration of this mouse is a bit off", it's just like that. You try to control slight veering off, by moving the analogue stick, or steering wheel, left or right, just slightly, and it's really heavy, seems like it's ignoring input. So you move it a bit more, then it moves oo much, and you're off the track. It'll take time to get used to I guess.

EDIT:
nice nice :)

Check TPU's front page, it's one of today's uploaded files.

Have you tried the M3 Challenge freebie BTW? Done by Simbin, much improved graphics with great physics... Dunno if the new RACE2007 is the base for it, if it is I think thats where my money will go...

EDIT, yeah, on restarting it let me pick my Saitek controller, although it wouldn't let me choose analog acceleraion or braking...

Yeah, I tried M3 Challenge, nice little game, but they could have added the older M3, maybe... or called it BMW Challenge and added all M cars. I'd likely pay for that, as long as it wasn't priced the same as a full game.
Graphics were definately nicer, and the game definately seemed more like GTR2 than Race/Race2007

I was going to invest in Race07, but everytime I went to buy it, I didn't have money, heheh.

They've got it on Steam for $39, so about ÂŁ23.50 in English...Only trouble is my bank account is frozen so I can't buy it, LOL!

I don't think M3 is based of GTR2, coz if you max the shadows it drags my machine to a crawl, whereas GTR2 is fully maxed and runs like a dream.

Same with a controller, hopefully it'll be fixed for final release.
I wish they'd let you check out some modifications, and some other cars. The Cudas that keep biting at my heels in a race are really interesting, I'd love to mess with them before release, see how the Muscle cars handle, since they should really fight steering, being so heavy and powerful.

I tried to like this game, but I gave up. The grip racing is just way to easy, I won by 30 seconds without even trying, I had to brake a whole two times. And the speed challenge is just terrible. Maybe it's just the car, but I couldn't keep it going in a straight line because it reacted to controls so slowly, and it was flying all over the place. And the the game itself has no flow, if I crash I have to wait until the restart menu feels like showing, which takes a random amount of time, because pressing escape freezes the game for 1 second of 2, and I have to sit through that annoying screen when exiting to the main menu. I know they'll take out that annoying screen for the full version, but still.

agree like 1.000.000%

Most Wanted is still the best game, combining nice cars, nice looks, nice gameplay, nice feeling of speed and driving physics and the sometimes nice chases.

ProStreet looked great in the trailers but the cars handle like a cow in a trolley. And since this is a RACING game, this cocks the whole thing up.

Make sure you use a wheel, my Logitech MOMO works great with this game and you also need to turn off the assists as that helps handling ALOT. This is by far the best NFS game since Hot Pursuit. All the others since Underground have been horrible. The best part is they FINALLY put native widescreen support in.

I would think it BETTER if they had used the CPU/GPU power WASTED on those silly balloons to improve graphics and AI and gameplay. Those balloons are strange kind of visual candy. It sort of "adds something" when you first see it, but it is completely unnecessary and, IMO, a waste of CPU/GPU utilisation... which could have been spent on something more useful.

Very pretty...I'd be a lot more into racing games if I bought a nice wheel/pedal/shift-lever set :).

Believe me, NFS games are terrible with wheels. I actually did better playing Most Wanted with a gamepad than a MOMO wheel because you don't need to be precise with these games. You hit the gas, point it somewhere and brake if you get too close to the wall. With a wheel the responses were slow and turning it all the way to one side took too long anyway. Now games like GTR2, that's an experience. The roar of a 600+ hp engine and the squeal of tires is just amazing, trying so hard to keep it from losing grip with all the assists off.

Which brings me to another gripe with Prostreet, the motors sound like generic crap. Like EA just took one generic, created motor sound and changed its pitch.

Plays very nicely on my computer o_O 1280x1024, 4x AA/AF, everything else max, and the game run at good framerates. I think the demo version's damage modelling system is cut down though, it looks like it. Looks lke i wont need a new system for this~

HiddenStupid, the game will run on your system fine, it seems like its just the same NFS:C/NFS:MW engine with some tweaking. The game is so detailed @_@! The two races were extremely easy though... sigh. I even tried using clutch manual, but that still didnt make any difference, i guess im used to simulator racing games, but this isnt really one, but i cant really tell, since the M3 and GTR both are 4WDs, which does mean that spinouts...err can't happen..?

I wish i could choose the RX7 though >=(

Anyway, one funny thing i did was drive dirty, i ended up taking out an RX7 which had spun out in front of me and then caused a huge pile up... Motion blur isnt taken too far as well! This game is definately an eye opener compared to the last two titles.

I agree TK, they put a fresh face on it. They dynamics feel like classic NFS, but the visuals are improved. I am looking forward to the release of this game as I haven't missed one yet, I've had every NFS title since the original. It's a good mix of what I call "kinda real with a heavy dose of arcade". NFS titles have always been fun, and I love running from the law in the recent titles. I think they need to do an NFS: Hard Core that uses a new engine, better physics/dynamics like GT4/Forza, with a mix of real tracks and large-open environment. Something the more tecnhical users could enjoy while still getting a taste of classic NFS.

Either way, I'd say it appears to be a 7/10 game to me and that really isn't a bad thing, could pull an 8, but we'll see when it's released.

....oh ok glad it will run on shader 2.0 was just making sure cause dont want to waste time downloading and cant even run it like in Lost Planet and Jericho demo.

Drift City and Upshift Strike Racer was a real fun racing game.... it'll be 10 out of 10 if it support gamepad.
