The Secret Base Emergency Button by Takaratomy is one of the most nonsensical USB devices. By pressing it, you effectively shut down your computer. But not before you get a very entertaining movie on the screen. Animated bars and blast doors "secure" your computer, and then shut it down. There's a very nice video (WMV format) here. The price for the silly gadget is ¥3,990 ($35/£18/€26).

wow.... if this was really meant to save your computer from heat or such, by the time it shut off it would already be on fire... this is the single most useless thing i have EVER seen (next to of course my ex)

    Hilarious!

1./ As office prank... install on colleagues PC... with long USB cable extension. Shut him down at inconvenient moments.

2./ Alternative CTRL+ALT+DEL for the physically handicapped. Have you ever tried that combination with just one hand? It's tricky. This device will help!

3./ Useful extra key mapping for games. e.g. Flight simulator, landing gear, or bombs away! Need for Speed - SMOKE, Lemmings NUKE

4./ Or squawk button for Messenger or Skype

5./ Shortcut for reset internal IP address for all DSL downloaders

6./ Shortcut for other system utilities, like control panel, or task manager

7./ Shortcut for send-this-email to junk and ban the sender

In fact, I think I will be needed to order quite a few of these :)

Takaratomy is a company (formerly 2) that makes toys and plastic models.
So basically this silly thing is purely for fun.

This will be a good way to may a auto logoff button to stop my bro using my comp.
