does anyone know if the higher gig model ps3's are compatible with ps2 games? i heard they are. My sis in law is getting a ps3, and shes selling her ps2 games, ie rockband, and i thought the ps3 might still be backwards compatible if u get the right one. Any insight would be helpful. thanks!
 
I know the first gen 20gb and 60gb PS3's can. 2nd gen are only software based. After that, there is no PS2 support.
 
ahh, i see, so the new slim will not support ps2 then?
 
Not right now no. They may bring out some software emulator for it, but that is still in the air afaik.
 
Thanks for the info! not sure which they are getting, likelly the new one. i have an older one, not even sure which one it is, my GF bought it. Ill have to check
