Hi,
I am going to build my first PC. This is the build: + Ryzen 7 4000
Screenshot_20200928_114625.png

Which PSU do I need, budget is 125. Lower would be better.

Someone already recommended a Riotoro Enigma 750 watt, But its quite cheap so i though it could make the lifespan of my components worse.

case is great, you can remove the fans from the list (these are worse than what is already installed)
and you don't need any other fans since the top fans in the p400a just mess up the airflow and (in my case) even increased temps.

rest is decent.
never go cheap on the PSU.

if your budget is 125 i'd take a look at the be quiet! Straight Power 11 750W that costs around 120€ and you have 27 buck left from skipping the case fans.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
The fans are intented as replacement on the phanthom. and as a exhaust fan.
Is that a bad idea as well? A exhaust fan improves GPU temps from my understanding.

The coolermaster 750 watt V2 is around the same price in the Netherlands, how does that compare to your recommendation?

I am okay with noise btw, as long as the performance is good

of course you need an exhaust (didn't thought about that because i have an exhaust fan since day one for over a year)

you need one extra fan then.

the PSU is just a bronze and cooler master is not the most reliable company out there either.

i'd stick to the be quiet PSU (i use it to power a 10900k, 2080 ti amp extreme 350W) and is 100% silent and works very reliable.

Alright, thanks for letting me know. I will be getting that PSU then.
How many exhaust fans do I need?
And is it a bad idea to replace the fans on the Gelid phanthom for RGB?

That motherboard list support for only the Ryzen 7 Pro 4750G and 4650G CPUs. Just keep that in mind.

Be Quiet makes a Gold 700 w For $100
Hi, I will be waiting for the zen 3 platform.

Is 700 watt enough for Ryzen 7 4000, rtx 3080 and rgb?

the bequiet 750W PSU is enough. the 700W will be good "enough" but i still highly recommend to use a high quality and high tier PSU. and i wouldn't try hard to save 20 bucks for a cheaper one.

since it's a high quality PSU it will be even fine if you are pulling 750W non stop from it. and you won't come close to that especially with a ryzen.

According to my calculations I will just be using 600-650 watt, isnt 700W better than 750 because its most efficient at 90% usage?
So shouldnt i take the 700Wvarient over the 750W?

That's not how that works. Your highest efficiency is goin to be around 60% power which is 92% efficient

With a 10 year warranty. 115 EUROS.

Be Quiet gives a 5 year warranty
Doesnt the focus GX platform have GPU PD issues?

Does this look good? https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/1263357/be-quiet-pure-power-11-700w-cm.html

It seems to have a worse rating https://www.kitguru.net/components/power-supplies/aris-bitziopoulos/be-quiet-pure-power-11-700w-psu-review/#:~:text=Pure Power 11 700W features,Every year be quiet!

seasonic tops the charts in terms of quality also I'd look for 600watts.
other changes you can make:
  1. ditch the sata SSDs and get a large HDD.
on top of HDD being easier to recover motherboard sata controllers don't like it when your bios is set to nvme mode and will freeze up your system if you put too much load on them. the only way to get around this is with a PCI-e sata card.
  2. remove 1 nvme drive and get a 64GB optane drive to use as OS swap space
ideally you should have swap disabled if you have a lot of ram so your SSD doesn't write it self to death. but that tends to break things like web browser background page caching, netflix and just about any non gaming productivity task that isn't M$office. not to mention emulators like yuzu. note that you don't need an intel system to use the space on an optane drive it's only needed for their special caching mode which is not as good as swap.

Thanks for the tips, will do. I still feel like 600watt is too low and i should go for 650 or higher.

I was also wondering if 3600mhz 16CL ram isnt overkill. Should i go for 3200mhz instead? 3600mhz was 20 bucks more expensive. Is that worth it?

for an AMD system especially one with a high thread count no speed of ram is overkill. as far as the PSU goes Gamers Nexus just did a video recently and the most he was able to draw in any workload with a 10900k+2080TI system was about 420watts(80+ platinum rated). the RTX3080 may add another 100 watts over a 2080ti but I don't know any non epyc/threadripper zen CPUs that can draw more power than a 10900k. so unless you plan to run a sli setup or do some liquid nitrogen overclocking 550 watts is the most you can expect to draw and I have no doubt next generation parts will use even less power. if only because of how hard it is to cool parts above 300+watts.

I would go with a X570 since you want to run 2 NVME drives and since Ram is cheap I would recommend to get 32GB now instead of 16GB. My recommendation would be the config below. The case comes with 3 RGB fans on front so no need to get more and you can install the watercooler on the top. Also 1TB SATA SSD is cheaper than 2x512GBs
