I am currency thinking if it's time to upgrade my Corsair SF600 PSU in my system, check system specs for details.

SeaSonic's watt tester shows I need about 630watt for my current system with my i7-8086K overclocked I don't want oc my GTX 1080 Ti but I don't want my psu go boom on me should gaming all suddenly.

I looked at 2 choices and I read about the Seasonic Prime Ultra Platinum 750watt art johnnyguru and it sounds like a solid choice for about 200USD/£160.

But for about 250USD/£200 I can get the SeaSonic Prime Ultra 750watt Titanium wouldn't this be a better choice¿

Price difference is not worth higher 80+ rating unless there is huge difference in build quality but on that you would need to check reviews.

Do all of Seasonic range of PSU use copper bars. I know all the titanium range has this.

EDIT: I'm not sure if it's the capacitors I have added into my system but it will be interesting if user(s) that have a high end PSU may want to try the following even thou all sockets should be the same.

Look up breakdown of your PSU. Look where the MOSFETS are located on the PCB (on the PSU), then use the nearest 8 pin sockets that's nearest to the MOSFETS for GPU/CPU. My CPU gained an extra 3MHz with the same undervolt, while there was no gain whatsoever for the GPU.

In-short, you are cherry picking your 8 pin socket if you have that choice. I have seven 8 pin socket on my PSU.

I really like my 2 Prime Ultra Titanium 850s. I don't think you can go wrong with either honestly. The only major difference other than efficiency is the platinum line comes with capacitors in the cables that was enough for me to buy the Titanium model instead.

If you can get a Titanium for a small premium over the Platinum do it. Buying a better PSU from a company like Seasonic is academic to me.

I might wait to see how much the Seasonic connect with the Prime GX-750 will cost because it would be awesome to have and make better cable management.

Just an update, I managed to find a second hand Seasonic Prime 1200W Platinum for 150USD/£124 it's less 2 years old with box and receipt and the guy selling it works in my city so he can bring it tomorrow which is awesome :rockout:

Kitguru tested this and it looks great from reviews and for that price I am gonna take it.

Review: https://www.kitguru.net/components/power-supplies/zardon/seasonic-prime-1200w-platinum-psu-review/
don't buy a used psu.
so what if it's 2 years old,if it's been mined on it can harm your components.
I bought a used 850w xfx (seasonic oem) once and it took out two r9 290s one after another.

get either one of those, but frankly I'd prefer a 1000w focus gold over 750w ultra platinum, would run cooler and quieter cause the load would be lower.

People in my country doesn't mine because the electricity costs too much.

Plus every store have to give 24 months like warranty so if anything happens in the 24 months after purchase they replace it on top of that Seasonic gives is it 10 or 12 years warranty on it.

nobody buys 1200w to run a normal one card rig.He must've used it for multiple card setup of some sort.

Nope. You'll never ever make up that price difference unless you pay through the nose for electricity and run your PC under load 24/7 well past the warranty of the device. Go gold.

Gold is only a small price less then Platinum max 50usd or something so not worth it.

50 bucks is not that small, and the difference in efficiency is pretty marginal,2% between gold and plat at 50% load.
going with a bigger gold unit over smaller platinum you're getting lower load, therefore lower temps and quieter operation as well as increased longevity.

25%/$50 difference is small? What??!?!?!?! :slap: :kookoo:

Do the math my man. You've been here for 14 years... figure out the difference in how long it takes to make up $50 price difference with 2% efficiency..... :)

25%/$50 difference is small? What??!?!?!?! :slap: :kookoo:

Haha depending on what I am buying.

I am not rich or anything but I have what I need and with the psu coming tomorrow I will properly sell my sfx psu and get some money back.

The same I don't feel like spending money on a RTX 2080 Super or a RTX 2080 Ti when I got a GTX 1080 Ti Hybrid and I don't need RTX.

Sure it depends. $50 is nothing when spending $2000. But, the point is, there isn't a point to get higher than gold for your uses so why spend the money? If you insist, go platinum over titanium and save that money.

GL. :)

I wonder what people think.I'd say most of us would prefer a 1000w gold over 750w plat/titan for quieter operation and lower temperatures.

I know a person that rather buy a 1000w 80 plus then a 550W 80 plus gold even nothing now is needed.

For my system right now... a 7960x with all c/t (16/32) at 4.3 GHz and a 2080Ti, my 750W PSUs fan kicks on its lowest setting when gaming. It is inaudible (EVGA 750 G2) over the 2080 Ti FE and my three Yate Loon 120mm fans on the radiator at 800RPM. And when I put my headphones on.... I can't hear my system anyway. It never spins up on idle, even when doing some photo work, vid editing, etc. That isn't a particularly heavy load, I know. That said, my system probably uses more power than the average bear. ;)

At the same price, sure, why not. But a penny more and I go for something more appropriately sized. Again, we can think of fringe cases where it would be a better move, but, really, even for several dollars more I wouldn't even do it.

sli is dead so not that'll you ever need it,but if I wanted to splurge I'd get more watts over better efficiency.

There's no way to make that decision without knowing what your typical system load is, since PSUs are most efficient at approximately half their rating. If your system runs at 500W then the 1000W is in its sweet spot, but the 750W is down the efficiency curve - in that case a Silver 1000W night end up more cost-effective than the Gold 750W.

Personally I like to buy Platinum or Titanium to incentivise the PSU manufacturers to keep aiming for higher efficiency.

At the moment 600w I got now is not enough if I want to of my CPU and graphics. Specs is filled out.
