This is my first attempt on a overclock. Ive only adjusted the bus speed to 335x9. I don't know what else to do really other then keep uping the fsb speed. I want to speed up the memory but have no clue on that...

here's a screenie

First find the memory options in your bios and drop it to 1:1. Then keep upping the fsb and adding more voltage as necessary, however you don't want to exceed 60 C while under load and you don't want to pump too much voltage in (for a max overclock...I'd say 1.5 v).

You did speed up the ram. Look at your cpuz screenie. Your at ddr2 1000. Good job man. Thats about where I'm at on my quad. Is your cpu voltage set to auto? What are your ram timings in bios. The above post was very important about checking for stability. Also, grab memtest off internet also, your about to run into a wall with the ram.

I have no idea why its in single channel mode. I just checked bios there wasnt anything that jumped out at me to change to dual mode....

does the memory have to go into slot 1 and 3 for dual? Right now i have it in slots 1 and 2.

Quads are fine at 60C. They'll take up to 70C.

I actually ran mine at 3.2GHz 1.35V 24/7 on the stock cooler, and it reached 75C under load, with no ill side effects.

Yep, slot 1 and 3, or 2 and 4.

Ram is now in dual mode. I also noticed that when i changed the FSB to 334 from 266 that windows loaded slower. I reset BIOS and going to start slower and read a little more.

Hey again, After my first attempt above to overclock this system I went back to default and left the system alone.

I'm back with another attempt to overclock my system(CHECK SPECS).

I have up'ed my FSB to 333x9 w/ vcore on auto in bios
Memory was set to 1:1 and 5-5-5-15(default) 2.0v and Command Rate of 2T

Here are some screenshots of CPUz and Real Temp.

I'm back to ask what can I do to further the performance of my memory? I would love to push everything to the max before I have to go messing with voltage.

thanks guys

You can try one of two things to increase memory performance. Leave the speed where it is, and lower timings as low as they'll go while still remaining stable.

Or you can leave the timings alone, and keep increasing their speed to the highest stable you can achieve. 1066Mhz 5-5-5-15 might be a nice speed to attempt.

To change the speed , do I adjust the divider?

Yeah. Your board should have a divider that will let you run your ram at 1066, or at least really close to it.

when OCing ram, use memtest. its a good program thats easy to make on a bootable CD, and its a lot quicker and safer than testing in windows.

(ram timings can go from stable to insta death with just one setting change, so i prefer to NOT risk my OS :) )
