Wow, that is an incredible deal (although they are way overpriced in the first place). I would get one if I had the dough.

10x multi.... that means...

q6600... 400x9=3.6ghz
q6700... 400x10=4ghz

at roughly the same voltage. i can almost guaranty 4ghz out of a q6700.

so if your q6600 maxes out at 3.9ghz which is 434x9, then the q6700 SHOULD be able to do 434x10 for 4.3ghz. but YMMV.

i've had both a e6600 and a e6700 and the e6700 was BAD ASS!!!

e6600 did 420x9=3.78ghz @ 1.4625v
e6700 did 410x10=4.1ghz @ 1.4825v

10x FTW!

crazy overclocks .. this is more desirable than any of those new quads in my opinion ..

I guess this means those 45nm are right around the corner...but they have a lower multiplier.

Grrrr! I already posted this in nfleschers hot deals thread to "kind of" keep it a little secretive. The cat's out of the bag now! I doubt they will have any more by Tuesday when my CC bill payment goes through. You have your revenge ColdStrom.:nutkick:

no.... 45nm quads wont OC very well. MAYBE you'll get 3.8ghz max with the q9450 but thats a long shot. the 65nm quads are still gonna clock higher and have higher multi's. the only 45nm quad that's good is the qx9650 and qx9770. both are out of most peoples price range.

in my opinion... the q6600 will outperform most of the 45nm quads when overclocked.

the q6700 is quite a bit better though. if you have the $$$, the q6700 is the sweet spot at that price. it's only like $50-$70 more than a q6600 and like i said before... you can almost guaranty over 4ghz with every q6700.

Nice deal. Looks like they're going clearence with this. It's pretty obvious everyone was buying the Q6600 and thought it was stupid spending $500+ for a Q6700 and so they lowered it. Intel is tuning the market for a favourable entry of its Yorkfield lineup.

and erocker.. I don't think that tpu'ers will have that type of money to spend in the next three days... so I'm hoping it doesn't end by tuesday! I'd rather get my revenge on the battle field!

@bta. Your probably right on the money about the Yorky. Plus the price wasn't all that great! But for right now it is!

Something tells me other e-tailers like TD, NEgg, ZZF will follow suit.

I hope so. Because it was out of this world price for that to start... I mean I could get a extreme for around that.. yeah, it maybe a duel, but still... And if the others fallow suit, erocker won't hate me! lol.

So this can reach 4ghz on air? I'm confused.

I originally wanted a Q9450 but this looks good too

very possible, yes. if your q6600 can do 3.6 on air then the q6700 can do 4ghz on air with only a degree or two more.

q9540 = waste of money.
