Temps are decent not pasting 55c under everything i do.

I was wondering if i should upgrade my cpu/platform now? or stick with this q9550 and bump clocks later on for better performance with bigger cards? Just a thought.

Also is there any better buy it cooling solutions then the H50 now?

Corsair H50 cooler has probably been smashed by something now, by 5c, i wouldnt mind, ive booked my self a job, and in about a final pay check, ill have money for a big card some crazy cooling, and i want to cool this q9550 as cool as possible, living in a desert at 110f+ outside dosnt help

Ambients can get up to 80f so.

Just wondering your opinions, spam me with them!!!!

Also ive been running 4.0Ghz for like a year now, and when i did overclock my q9550, i overclocked it right, hasnt crashed for no reason at all, because i stressed it to its knee's on IBT and prime 95, and it showed stable at those settings, Thank god i did that.

Good to have a stable 4.0Ghz system!

I don't see why you would need to. I can't see you being hindered by it's performance.

On the other hand, if you're bored and just want to spend money on new stuff because it's your hobby, just say so. ;)

1.26500 With vdroop control on the ep45-ud3p

Without the vdroop control at the same voltage setting, Itll boot into windows at 1.22 volts, but after 20 runs of Intel burn test at maximum itll freeze, so i just put the vdroop control on it travels up and down every test like a beast, rock stable past 100+ runs of Intel Burn Test at maximum stress level's set.

And loads at 59c-62c. Well when it was winter.

Its def my hobby, And i could get potential gains that i don't need but do want for the future.

Lets say the i7 system with solid d9's and a i7 930 overclocked to 4.3/4.2Ghz(big bet) Would be a gain over old dual channel and q9550 architecture.

I dont know though, at encoding on cinebenchmark 10+ my q9550 at 4.0Ghz scores about the same as a i7 930 at stock, Which is good, but i have this gander that my new hobby will be editing video's at massive high 60fps frame rates with vega's at 1920x1080 resolutions in dx11 games, and posting it up on youtube and maybe a forum, Just for reviews and stuff

My friend does so, and id just love the quick tap it power and encoding a big beast will bring for the hobby, something to do, and im expecting big games in the next 3 years hopefully :)

Wow, i just managed a stable (20 passes on LinX) 8.5 x 475 @ 1.320v (In Windows, hardly any Vdroop, setting in BIOS was 1.325, i think).

My 1.320v vs. 1.265v of your... Is that the mobos or CPUs... lol.

And to stay ontopic:

I'd say keep the combo, Q9550 is still a big player, and them temps are good, i get just less than them on my 3.8GHz when it's 21c over here.

Sandy Bridge is coming @ Q1 2011, so it's probably worth to wait for it .. I've got mine @4GHz/1.2v stable (470x8.5) (well, didn't test it for 24/7, but it's running without a problem, for a half a year now) ..FSB wall on my Maximus II is around 490, but NB needs a lot of volts there, so I prefer to keep it @4GHz with low volts (1.2v core and NB)

@MoonPig
I love your desk mod

I say hang on to your Q9550, but if you happen to see an i7 or something at a cheap price, why not? ;)

In a state of flux...
Your chip clocks just as well as mine, push harder! :D

(above was with water & 25 pass Maximum)

Currently running the Thermaltake Frio for review and load temps under WCG load (exact same as Prime95) are bang on 10'C worse with air than my loop.

44'C WCG for water.
54'C WCG for the Frio.

Either way, I'd look at modding your H50 with the most aggressive fans you can find/fit on that thing...why not take advantage of its potential and give it more air flow?? :toast:

Edit: Currently fighting huge vDroop on my board...nothing helps. :shadedshu

I am so freaking jealous right now. Nicely done 3volvedcombat! I really wish the EP45T-UD3P was available in the U.K.
