QNAP recently released a major upgrade of their operating system, the QTS 4.0, and they were kind enough to send us a 4-bay NAS for testing, the TS-421, which comes with their latest operating system pre-installed. The TS-421 is a mid-level NAS best suited to home and SOHO environments.

Apps on these things is a thing I can support. The price is sort of hard to stomach though.. It's €430 sans drives, which you can build a computer with at least one HDD for. It's not the same thing, but that is pretty much what keeps me from buying something like this (and the fact that I have no money at all, but still!).

For home use and a 2-bay NAS (e.g. the TS-221) would be ideal and more affordable than a 4-bay one.
