as long as you don't plan to run octa rank... you can basically throw anything on ryzen.. it will crash at idle anyways.

I have 3 different systems all running 32GB 4x8 with 6 different kits so doubtful its that rare..... @freeagent is doing the same thing running 2 different kits. All 3200CL14 Bdie is the only commonality.

All mine are ryzen based.... The only 4 dimm set I own I use with my Intel based system.

I don't disagree and for people who arent into manually tweaking its a terrible idea but it also isnt difficult as long as you match the MT/s and the timmings of each kit. Now pairing 3200 CL16 with 3200 CL14 is a terrible idea as well as 3600 with 3200 etc.

Try it yourself. I have two F4-3200C14D-16GTZSW and one F4-3200C14D-16GTZKW bought at different times from different countries. I'm not saying that all Ryzen memory issues are overblown or anything, just that the sky's not necessarily going to fall in if you don't buy it all as one kit.

I feel its just one of those things if you have a 6900XT/3090/5950X or 10900k why not or whatever high end hardware is out at the time.... But on a $300 CPU and a $200 mobo with a sub $500 gpu it probably doesn't make sense unless you need the extra memory for an application you use.... With lower end gpus you'll see almost no gains as well.

I am aiming for a 3070 or 3080, and my son will probably end up getting some cheap ram

Looking at Typhoon burner everything is identical except 1 number, is 4 on my Royals and 6 on my B+W's. DOCP works though I don't use it.

The Royals are a much better bin if you are into tweaking, but the B+W's are ok too, and paired up they rock.

Although it wouldn't shock me if Gskill does use better binned modules for their Royal line my guess is it comes more down to silicon lottery.
