Would it be because RTRT ability is minimal on Pascal cards? They allowed it via drivers, but the cards are going to work really hard for it.

Did you install the latest Nvidia drivers which also had optimizations for Quake II RTX?

I'm wondering what's your FPS? I could only manage 13-20 FPS at 720p low with everything disabled, except global illumination...
Same GTX1060 6G paired w/ R5 1600x.

Benchmark Scores Look, it's a Ryzen on air........ What's the point?
Playing it with a 2080ti. Get 45-60fps, normally closer to 60. The old game still looks old but the RTRT is amazing. It's brutal though, uses 4Gb of Vram and my card is power throttling at 100Mhz lower than in Pubg.

There is a "Textures" option in Video, maybe it has something to do with that.

14 to 20 fps for me on my 1160 Ti.
If I decide to actually play it all the way through I'll try Vya's settings.

it's a surprisingly good stability test for the RTX series too. If your OC is unstable in any way rtx quake will let you know it by level 3.

I was looking at the same upgrade earlier this year, but I decided against it in the end. It's a noteworthy upgrade, but if you do it for RTX, the performance is too low for current titles. Upcoming titles will probably not fare much better. Though there is this this Super line of Turing refresh that supposedly includes a significantly beefed up 2060, maybe take a look at that if you don't feel like waiting for a 3060.

They did a good marketing job making with this Quake II RTX. Now I'm off to buy a new videocard because I don't want lags in my Quake 2. AGAIN.

It's only one of the most loved games in history made better. Why would you have a beef with that?
