I can't wait for the Halloween sale when this is $3, then I can still not buy it.

I hope Killer Instinct follows this trend.

You guys are focusing on this game only and missing the importance of this announcement overall.

I guess you like games tied to walled gardens...

I saw this for sale on Amazon and wondered if they had ditched the UWP and W10 requirement. Thanks for that @natr0n and thanks @RCoon for your humorous translations you continue to provide!

Kind of a late reply, but very much not. At least I hope not, it's a good thing.

If MS manages to keep UWP out of gaming, UWP will have my blessing. I can see the point of it, just not for gaming. This is once again Microsoft's capital error of treating games like 'apps'. They are not apps, they represent their whole own market, and they are not limited to Microsoft's imagined future of a walled garden.

Yup, you just can not be more right. MS thinks everything today is an app. And not just the MS, all companies today think everything is an app and should work only on phones and tablets. Screw desktop users. Oh, and let's not forget the ads raping policy they enforce.

I was just looking at an article about this game

http://www.dsogaming.com/news/quantum-break-runs-significantly-faster-on-nvidias-hardware-in-dx11/

Runs 30% faster on Nvidia cards on DX11 and no difference in the visual quality from using DX12. Still not sold on DX12.
I think the reason behind this is Xbox One. This game was supposed to be xbox one exclusive (like ryse son of rome) but then they decided to create a "corrupted" PC port. And Xbox One uses AMD GPU so that's why this particular game runs much better on AMD hardware.

Prevents modding, for starters. And as if that's not enough reason on it's own, It's a walled garden MS-only POS as well.

For now. Like how people raged on lack of full screen, no multi GPU support and that later came? And isn't DirectX a walled garden already? And besides you don't have to go through the MS store to install UWP apps.

DirectX could be considered a walled garden, but that's it's only drawback. There are multiple to UWP. And given the bundles are not openable by nature, I don't see MS changing the whole fricking closed format to an open one just to allow mods like those other things.

If MS proves me wrong though, I'll gladly eat these words.

Yep computebase.de confirmed the performance gains, pretty impressive:

Because of the HD cut scenes. Apparently those are no longer streamed. Which is a good thing.

Yeah, games are getting huge. I don't think the download will be 68 GB though. That's probably just the required storage space to unpack the game and install it.

Good. I might even buy it now. Was certainly not interested the slightest of buying it through stupid Windows Store in its limited Win10 (UWP) form.
