Hey everyone! I've just gotten my new gtx 1660 today and it's really really big, way to big for my ASrock B450M pro x2 ram motherboard. I was wondering if its okay if I took of the gtx cover, the chasis at the top that's on top of the fan, because if I take that off I can basically fit the graphic card into my motherboard.

Will this be an issue? Will it make it overheat or something? I don't really know much about this so I need a bit of help, thanks in advance!

Hey bud, if your referring to the big 1 piece of plastic that goes around the fans, you will be ok. Its just a cover for cosmetic purposes. Just make sure you do not damage the fans when you remove it and make sure there are no wires you accidentally rip off removing it.

Long story short, just inspect the card from all angles and make sure you dont damage anything in the process.

EDIT: You couldn't find another 1660Ti that was smaller, possibly a 2 fan card that would allow you to keep it on?

Welcome to TPU.
Why are you saying that you're having problems with the size of the graphics card with the motherboard?

Yup unless you have a pcie card in the 3rd slot down that the GPU won't allow for then the motherboard shouldn't make a difference to what size it is, though 3 slots for such a card is probably unneeded and overkill imo and you will be better served with a 2slot GPU

...and then there's the fact that the 1660 Super has basically the same performance as the 1660 Ti for ~$50 less.
