I have one from a few years ago. I just looked at priced to see wgat it is selling for and all prices were around $1000?

Does anyone know if this is because of the situation where there is a card shortage due to shipping problems, Covid, card shortages....etc?

If so, I'd probably think of selling it. Just curious if anyone knows if this is the real worth of the card or if it is just temporary inflation of prices. Thank you.

I have a Gigabyte geforce 1660 super (3 fan) but cannot find a water block for it, so that is what got me on this path. I'd like to upgrade to a card that is
a little better - seems like the 1070 might be a little better than the 1660 - at least GB wise (8GB to 6GB).

Thank you for any helpful; answers!

My dude, you're a year late.

Covid, shortages, there's more issues in the tech world than ever.

A 1070 is literally a $200-250 card. Great for mining I guess.

Its a combination of all the factors you listed above, plus that it can mine. I doubt you'll get 1000 for it, but lets just say price it at 300-400 and you'll have no problem finding a buyer for it.

It's not gonna be better than a 1660 super, they're about the same. Buying a new card right now is insane.

Performance wise they are in the same tier. HOWEVER, the 1070 cooler is bottom tier, while the Gigabyte 3 fan cooler is decent. So you'll have a much cooler and less noisy time with the 1660 super.

Thank you for the replies. I knew it had to be because all the nonsense going on, I was just surprised to see the prices on an old card like the 1070.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to start building computers :D

I only started building last August, I guess it's gonna be a long wait. Shit, the RAM I bought for $208 total is now selling for $369.
Insane. I'm sure I'll have a few more questions on GPU, I'll put them here hoping some one sees them and can maybe answer them.

Thank you again for the feedback! :toast:

Benchmark Scores are good
I bought both a 1070 ti ftw2 and a 1080 ti ftw3 for fairly cheap right before the gpu craze began.
If i wanted to sell them now I could almost triple my money on both of them.. It's insane.
These cards aren't even good at mining ethereum anymore.

There are a lot of factors contributing to the state of the current market. It will likely not get better without less demand, or a long time to distribute.
We have seen incredible demand created from the media/forum hype of rtx 3000 and the many people who want to build a pc for their newly adopted online/hermit lifestyles.
A lot of people skipped an upgrade to the first iteration of rtx (with good reason) and that has also contributed.

I have a spare 780ti with an arctic cooler on it waiting for me to go back to it, if I wanted to take advantage of the market.. shit I could even sell the 780 for twice what I bought it for.. but its just not worth it imo.
mine some rvn or another altcoin with it like I do, and sell when you start to see some downward trends in gpu prices.
Then maybe we can pick up a next gen gpu for a reasonable price.

You can sell now for a profit if you like, but its not gonna give you enough to buy a better card.
