Hello,

I just got the ASUS m3a78-emh HDMI (It has the 780g chipset) and after i bought it i have read about a malfunction with its southbridge SB700 (clock-generator defect).
I was just wondering what that defect may affect my PC in general(performance ,instability ..etc) and wether I should get another mainboared or not even though I like its performance and all of its features.

Thank you.

The clock gen bug will not have any effect on performance or stability. AMD wanted to have the clock generator integrated with the SB700 southbridge, but encountered a bug, so they went with an external clock generator instead. The upcoming SB750 southbridge, due to be released in late June with the 790GX chipset, will have a working integral clock generator, and is said to aid in Phenom overclocking stability.
