I know this is a silly question. But I am thinking about purchasing 2 WD SN850 with heat sink. I was wanting to know if I would have a prob with it fitting with the heat sinks on them? My mother board is a Asus rog crosshair formula VIII X570.

You'll have to take the original heat sink off to install the motherboard heat sink

Ok. Bc I have no ideal how it works I have a regular sn750 now with no heat sink. Would the ones with heat sink be worth purchasing?

buy the one without heatsink, it saves you 10-20 bucks.

Thank y’all so much. I was thinking I would get way better performance with a heat sink.

Depends on the heatsink, the ones that come with the motherboard are generally pretty good but I'd say something like this is (arguably) much better!

Just giving you an idea about the options out there, XPG S70 is not a recommendation.

I know nothing about raid mode but will raid mode really increase the performance better than a factory heat sink that’s comes on the WD? R is it just better to stick with one WD SN850?

RAID for performance is dead. (Outside of server/enterprise.)
The only RAID you should ever consider is RAID1 for data integrity.

Or RAID 6, 10, 50

probably don't matter although that does look like it got a lot of surface area, but was thinking more the SB-HTSK.

But lets face it only during high and long usage it's going to get really hot,

The SN850 doesn't throttle even with its own heatsink so your motherboard heatsink is definitely enough for SSD, also SSDs only heat up a lot when there is intensive writing.

Well I used to run RAID-5 (4drives) on my desktop for many years, up until I got my first SSD in 2015.
I run now my 970Pro NVMe with the board HS placed above GPU with a 120mm fan over VRM, CPU socket, NVMe drive and the temp is really nice.

This is typical usage (from boot to 2 hours). For gaming add 5°C on nand and 7~8°C to controller

My point is that you dont need any fancy drive HS. Just adequate air flow.

Obviously. My point is that with the advent of SSDs outside of huge sequential workloads (which are simply inexistent as an ordinary user) RAID for performance is dead. Yes, they were and still are useful for HDDs but purchasing 1x SSD is cheaper than purchasing 4x HDD and putting them in a RAID (and still have worse performance).
