Goodmorning everyone,
My name is Richard, i am new to the Techpowerup forums.
Please excuse me for any grammatical faults, English is not my native language.
I have a question regarding my new gaming rig that is going to be used for 2560x1440 resolution.
Almost everything is sorted except that I am just a little unsure if my motherboard: the Asus Maximum VII Hero, is okay to be used with the MSI R9 290X Gaming 4G in crossfire.
The internet says the card is 3,9cm thick.
This would be the first time running a crossfire setup and I have seen some disturbing images, from SLI/Crossfire setups were the GPU's are literally on top of each other without leaving any space between them for airflow.
My PC will be aircooled only and I don't want my cards to be fried within 1 week.
The store I am getting all my parts from says the Mobo is fine for sli/crossfire since it has actually decent spacing between the two PCie x16 3.0 ports.
I have already placed my order apart from the GPU's, even after two people told me its fine but I'm still a little bit in doubt.
i7 4970k 4Ghz 8Mb Cache.
Gelid Tranquilo rev. 2
Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB (2x 4GB 1600mhz)
Asus Maximus VII Hero
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm
Samsung 840 EVO Basic 250GB
Cooler Master V1000.
Cooler Master CM 690 III
Any thoughts?
