Hi everyone!

I recently got a GTX 1080 from my friend, more specifically the Gigabyte 1080 D5X:

http://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N1080D5X-8GD#kf

Now. It runs at the same clock speed as the original founders edition but does have the Windforce 3x cooler.
So I was wondering if anyone knows if I could flash the bios to that of the G1 gaming?

Also - Realistically what is the worst that can happen if the bios is incompatible? I do have a backup card in case the screen input won't work after flash in order to flash it back to the original bios.

Thanks in advanced!

What would this modification change? Clock speed slightly, or power limits?mainly

Indeed. It was meant as a mean to overclock it since I figured it have the cooler already.

you might have luck then with simply editing the bios to better suit your OC'ing needs. im not familiar with these newer chips, but i know it is possible with the proper software.

maybe this thread will suit your needs.

good luck

edit:
it seems as tho some say pascal cannot be edited. i dunno, maybe a flash is your best avenue.

Keep in mind that you can brick your card when flashing a vbios specially when flashing a bios of a card that is not the same model of yours.

Decided to try and flash with Nvflash from this site.
Does anyone have an updated guide on how to? I keep getting an error with WoW64 no longer supported when I try to save the bios.

I apologize for the question in this thread but its at least tied.
And I thought I would ask as i count your self as in the know in gpu land.
So do you Wizzard ever flash cards to see if it unlocks performance ,be it shaders clocks or more power.

I don't expect cases just a yes or no with no follow up questions from me.

Not for my personal use. I got a random GTX 1080 in my system, at stock, which is fast enough. Don't have much time for gaming, most gaming is spent looking if games are usable for VGA reviews and to find test scenes.
