Im planning on building a core 2 duo system and ive been wondering about the various version of the E630.

There ar (atleast for me) 3 version to pick from ranging from 143 up to 209 EURO.

Pentium® 4 Processor 630
FC-LGA4, "Prescott": 143 EURO

Pentium® 4 Processor 630
Boxed, FC-LGA4, "Prescott": 159 EURO

Pentium® 4 Processor 630
Boxed, FC-LGA4, BTX, "Prescott" : 209 EURO

My question is:

Please correct me if im wrong but arnt these all the same processor only the 1st one isnt boxed, what makes the differance between boxed and none boxed. There is no cooler included on the first one but other than that I don't gett it. With such big differances in price there has to be something im missing.

This could be a dumb ass question but i never bought a proccesor before. Still gaming on a agp 9600 ffs.

Don't mind the grammar english is not my main language.

As far as i know, the difference between boxed and non-boxed(tray) is not only the cooler, but the warranty, too. So for AMD processors boxed you get 3 years warranty if you use the boxed cooler, for tray processors you get less warranty. I dont know about Intel's warranty policy, sry, but it has to be nearly the same

he said is looking for a Core 2 duo, and speaks about P4, it's not my fault, just pointing the obvious

The ones you said (Ðivin1ty) are Pentium 4, wich are single core, and are made using the 90nm process, look around for the Core 2 duo if you want one

I figured 630 was the same as 6300.

No, the Pentium4 is based on Netburst architecture, the Conroe 6300 on the Core architechture, they're different

I spend some time thinking on the concept of SLI/CRossfire.
My conclusion is that its a useless for budget gamers. By the time you have the money for that second card there will be a better card avalible that will perform better than you SLI/Crosfire setup since the perfomance gain isn't not that great. (40% max?)

Still waiting on a good 775 mobo with 1 pci-e x16, 9**X chipset preferibly around 100 EUR.
G.E.I.L. DIMM 1 GB, 4-4-4-12
7900GT XFX
Koolance Liquid Cooling Case
E6300
My old PSU, unknown brand
Using a Sharkoon MAjestic 5.1 headset, mabey gett the extreme-fi music to go allong with that.
Plus the stuf i need to hook my processor/7900GT on to the watercooling.

If i had SLI/Crossfire it was just to brag about it, althought the 7600GS in SLI give a great boost in performance, if not looking into SLI/CROSSFIRE look out for this board:
ASUS P5B CHIPSET 965 SOCKET 775 it costs 150€ in Portugal, and don't forget about the storage, are you sure your old PSU can handle a 7900GT?
