If it were me, I think I'd want to keep the backplate, especially since it actually helps a bit with heat and whatnot, so it's actually useless to have on the back of the board. An RGB backplate, however? Not so much.
Also, I think there should be more boards with backplates, not just the super high-end ones! Backplates for all!
