Hello guys, i was wondering about the Dual Bios switch supported by the r9 280x Toxic. The manual indicates, UEFI-Mode ist accessed by pressing down the Bios switch (switch emits blue light), though GPU-Z is telling me, UEFI-Mode is deactivated, while the switch is pressed down? Is this a display Error by GPU-Z, or did it somewhat misunderstood the manual?

PS: The picture shows the UEFI-Mode, while the switch is in an upward position.

What does it show in the opposite position? The GPU-Z indication might simply be referring to the fact that the card is UEFI capable.

Sometimes it just happens that the ROMs are flashed to differing positions compared to box/manual.

I had an Asus DCUII 290X Standard edition, brand new sealed, where instead of quiet/uber ROMs it had STD/OC clocks ROMs.

Like stated by clutchc check what's showing on the other switch position.

Works fine for me when the button switch is pushed in (blue light on.) GPU-Z shows my Sapphire R9 280 could be operating with the UEFI ROM.

Sometimes a Bios flash will disable UEFI, it did on my old 280X.

GPU-Z does not check if UEFI is active or not, (ie motherboard is UEFI bios plus CSM=Off and OS is UEFI mode). It only checks to see if the vbios has UEFI module within it. IIRC it does not even check that there is UEFI module in vbios, but if a hex value in legacy vbios section which denotes UEFI enabled/disabled in vbios (AMD vbios is Hybrid, ie has legacy section with UEFI module). I can test it when have time and report back :) .

For example I still use an old rig for folding@home, it is a Q6600 on an Asus P5K Premium. When I install a 290/X or Fury/X into it and as motherboard has no form of UEFI bios and install of Win 7 is in legacy bios mode (shown in install log), GPU-Z will detect if the vbios has UEFI module/enabled within it.
