Hello all! I'm stumped and I have done everything I could do up to now and have decided to come to forums for guidance! I have a R9 295X2 by Asus that has been giving me nothing but problems. What happens is my GPU fan on the GPU itself speeds up at an insane speed and I lose signal to my monitor. I've tested everything within my components to make sure nothing else is causing the problem. My specs are

AX 1500i = PSU

32 GB corsair domintor platinum = ram

3 tb hdd

125gb ssd

4770k processor with water cooling. (Closed loop)

Maximus something for my motherboard. (Sorry don't remember)

I've RMA'd it once with Asus, and they didn't even do anything and sent it right back stating it was "fine" but I know that's not the case as the gpu does not work whatsoever in my build. If I can get any help or guidance that would be great!

Pretty sure it's dead Jim.

Joking aside, that card really isn't the best to have anymore.

+1 fill your specs here!

2: have you tried to set a fan curve? with EVGA precision X?, OC guru II or something like that? my MSI R7 370 gave me the same problems and stopped when controlled all settings via control software,

Regards,
I use the simple whatever came with software. I keep it all default and don't have it going under any odd stress or speeds.

One has to Ask
1. Have you Tested this Card in a different Machine ?
2. Cross Tested Another Card in Your machine
Tried it on a different machine still same problem. On my own desktop I did the same and was able to use the onboard graphics from my processor with no problem. (Gross onboard graphics).

If the fan spins very fast very soon after start up it may mean the GPU is overheating very quickly. This might mean the cooler isn't attached properly or the thermal paste has dried out or isn't suitable anymore. Some questions need to be answered:

1) Does it do this when on idle desktop?
2) Does it work for a while under any stress?
3) Can you check the temperature using Afterburner or even GPU-Z?

Don't reply until you can answer all three :p

still waiting to see if:
could you try the programs i have mentioned there? cause you can set a fan curve and monitor temps, if temps are so high the fans will start spinning as fast as they could ... so you could start there...giving more info, that will help to provide solutions sir.

Do this only after the event asus denies your rma request, take heatsink off, clean fan out, replace thermal compound and pads on on gpu, ram, vrms.
