Basically I have looked into the cards, and benchmarks, though of course I have not owned a 1050ti or know much about very specific details of future releases.

I bought the R9 380 at the price of 100euros new, which is why I bought the card. I did not think that to be a good time to buy or invest in graphics cards. But at 100euros I decided to buy.

Now I am thinking to sell the R9 380 that I have to buy another card, and the 1050ti is a card I would most likedue to the low power use aand performance.

Do you know of any future cards to hold on to? I have enough PSU that power any card including the titans in sli but most my build I use my low power psus as I prefer low power systems. So reccomending any cards other low power cards is not out of the question. I would like to know about planned future releases that you think is an interesting upgrade over a R9 380 or a 1050ti.

I was looking at the "full" "form" factor of the gigabyte 1050ti

but I don't know if I should consider the

for the small form factor. Just would be handy for any future itx size builds.

Any other variants, or ideas for suggestions, such as waiting for a better card to handle games that would most likely use more than 4gb, or any tangential thinking would be very condusive. As this is a very open ended question, do suggest whatever you think especially benchmarks videos comparing video cards.

I encode, would like VR ready tech, and am running two screen setup. I have another screen to another computer but I have about 4 computer hook up to my various screen. 42inch is my main screen, 1080p.

This video was interesting as the lower benchmark card RX 460 performed much better in battlefield, by a margin

any interesting insights do share!

I am googling the variants on ebay, of the 1050ti and any insights of how the MSI VS ASUS VS EVGA VS GIGABYTE performs would be interesting. Which look you prefer also is interesting

I'd say keep the 380. Good price, good performance.

As for future upgrades.. The only way to know is to wait and see. The only sure thing is new stuff is coming, and it will be faster. BTW, if you're using the computer in your system specs I would definitely look into upgrade motherboard, CPU and RAM first, and get an SSD. Maybe even a new case.

"NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Performance Benchmarks
Moving on to the performance benchmarks, the card was tested at its factory overclocked specs in 3DMark Time Spy and Firestrike. In Firestrike Ultra, the card score 1895 points while in Time Spy, it scored 2513 points. This score is better than a lot of custom variants of the Radeon R9 380 and GTX 960 cards."

Interesting! the first few reads and there is a direct comparison to the card I own

" This specific model is clocked at 1354 MHz base and 1468 MHz boost clocks which is a nice bump straight from the factory.
The leaker showed off that the chip was able to do 1797 MHz out of the box, without any voltage adjustment. "

Maybe a fun project would be a 1050 ti with custom noctua heatsink. Anyody know the gpu mount dimensions?

What'd you decide on? :p I made this exact switch just a week ago, and I'm very happy. About the same performance for about a quarter of the power draw. :shadedshu: My games just seem smoother, too.

There appears to be a hard limit of 1911 mhz on the chips, several review samples have reached it without voltage adjustments but the asic will not clock higher than 1911 for some reason. The additional cooling headroom may not benefit this particular card.

would like VR ready tech

Here's a VR run at maximum GPU capped clock of 1911MHz. VRMark seems to report the lower boost clock rather than actual clock.
2016-11-08_112109.jpg

HWiNFO reports 80W-83W during the bench however the power readings seem off for this particular card so don't know how close that is but as far as power throttling, if the limit isn't set above that it's going to happen, i.e. if set to 75W.

Strange that this 1911MHz cap was enforced (memory clock too), can't imagine Nvidia engineers letting it slip by accidentally. LR reports "Nvidia are working on a fix."

Have you tried OC'ing your current card and comparing benches?

I have to echo the views of others and say that if you really want an upgrade from the R9 380, you need to move higher than the 1050Ti.
You would do well to spend the money on other parts of your rig as well.
I don't know what the market is like where you live, but here there are great deals on new and used GTX 9XX and R9s such as the 980Ti and Fury for such low prices now.

I agree, don't bother with an upgrade to 1050ti

If i was you i would go for new cpu, mb and memory, that will give you an better overall boost.
