My LG 31MU97-B suffered an issue with its DisplayPort connection, and as a result I had to RMA it. As they did not have a replacement, I got a refund. That brings me to the question of a replacement. The HP Z27q 5K monitor looks like a very nice choice for my needs: Great sRGB color reproduction, massive desktop size and it fits my price point. Heck, it is actually cheaper than the LG it will be replacing, so I save some money in the process.
The remaining question is: Can my R9 Fury output 5K at 60hz? The monitor requires two DisplayPort inputs to drive the resolution and the question is how difficult it will be to get the AMD drivers to play along with this setup. Note, I am not planning on gaming at said resolution, I'll scale down to 2560x1440 (a perfect 1/4 of the pixels) for that, or use a second monitor, so the question of running games at 5K is not relevant here.
Does anyone have experience with 5K resolutions and AMD cards?
