Anybody have any issues running these parts together? I seem to be having trouble keeping my GPU stable on a Gigabyte G43 mobo with a Q9300 CPU. No overclocks.

I'm just not sure if there's an issue with a PCIe 3.0 GPU on this board or something...

Hi

Thanks for the info;

-What type of stability issues dose the card have? Over Heating, CTD, Artifacts, BSOD, Freezing or Other

-What version of the motherboard bios is flashed?

-Motherboard chipset drivers installed and up to date

-Stability issues in Games and benchmarks or Games only or other

-Have re-installed DirectX

-What driver version is installed

-Is this a fresh windows install with all updates installed

-remove vga card; clean PCIe blades with coffee filter and isopropyl alcohol; clean PCIe x16 slot on mobo with air duster; reseat card

-Test the card in another PC, [dose it exhibits the same stability issues]

The system will blue screen while crunching. This is a new system that was just built, and it has Windows Vista Business with all updates installed on it (except a couple that came in last night). The CPU and video card never seem to get out of control with temps, although the CPU could get as high as 65C under full load crunching straight CPU WU's, which is due to a stock-like heatpipe cooler not being enough for it I guess. I've tried a couple different Radeon 7770's in the system, and I just updated the drivers to the latest beta (13.3 beta 3 IIRC).

I turned it on again last night to see if it would blue screen again, and it has some CPU work it's trying to finish, so it's only doing one GPU WU at a time (with one of the CPU cores), along with one CPU WU on each of the remaining three CPU cores. I'm not sure if it's the lighter GPU workload or something different, but it didn't crash last night and was still running this morning.

WU's are "work units" if you're not familiar with crunching.

Hi

The system will blue screen while crunching

Next time the system Blue Screens; write down the stop code [this will help to identify the issue]
Example
ExampleBSOD.jpg

Examples here - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff557419(v=vs.85).aspx
Example
BSOD0x00000124 example.jpg

Note: may be able to view the windows crash log dump with a [*BlueScreenView]
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

Description
===========

BlueScreenView scans all your minidump files created during 'blue screen
of death' crashes, and displays the information about all crashes in one
table. For each crash, BlueScreenView displays the minidump filename, the
date/time of the crash, the basic crash information displayed in the blue
screen (Bug Check Code and 4 parameters), and the details of the driver
or module that possibly caused the crash (filename, product name, file
description, and file version).
For each crash displayed in the upper pane, you can view the details of
the device drivers loaded during the crash in the lower pane.
BlueScreenView also mark the drivers that their addresses found in the
crash stack, so you can easily locate the suspected drivers that possibly
caused the crash.

It's usually a "Reference by pointer" BSOD:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...-pointer/fc5d2338-274e-43fc-8f25-0b8851737b3f

That points to some other software piece fubaring the system, and doing a clean boot can help determine the cause. I haven't had time to do so, but nothing is installed on the system besides Windows Vista, BOINC, CoreTemp and Afterburner (for temp monitoring only).

First thing is to check the consistency of the Drive

-check HDD for errors [check the intergraty of the software]

-check the integrity of windows file system

Open an elavated command prompt on the desktop
press shift and press right mouse button
select open command window here
type sfc/verifyonly
press enter

-look for any errors in the report

If errors occur windows can attempt to fix these [*this is not always possible]
[*modified system files for themes will be reverted back to default; make a back up of these files first]

Open an elevated command prompt on the desktop
press shift and press right mouse button
select open command window here
type sfc/scannow
press enter

-update drivers

-check RAM one stick at a time for errors

crystal disk info will show your smart data from your hard drive and let you know if its failing.

run prime95 for 12 hours to make sure your cpu/motherboard/ram is stable

do you have many usb or pci devices plugged into the computer one of those or its driver could be causing BSOD.

Only has a USB KVM plugged into it, and only add-in card is the 7770.

One thing I've found out is that the load I'm putting on it has a direct effect on the stability. One GPU WU and three CPU WU's means it's completely stable and no BSOD's. Switching to four GPU WU's means crashes. Right now I'm testing 2 & 2, and it's been stable for the past 4-5 hours.

Did you ever try to give the GPu a little voltage bump to see if leveled out stability? Just a thought to see if the gpu is a little wacky under heavy load...?

I might give it a try. How much you talking? .05v?
