Hello everyone,

I have a Dell XPS 410 that is currently running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. I have an ATI Radeon HD4650 1gb graphics card that does not display anything. the fan on it spools up, but nothing is displayed. I verified that it is not the HDMI cord, or the DVI to HDMI adapter, as I am using the stock video card from the XPS right now. I would like to know if there is something I am doing wrong, or if the Radeon is just shot.

Thank you for all help

Did you try the card on another PC ?
Unfortunately I don't have any other PC's I am able to test this on, As the only other PC I have is an all in one
Other than that, is there a BIOS switch to go from the onboard to a discrete GPU ? and the obvious did you plug the monitor cable to the ATi card :) also try reinserting the card and a BIOS reset.

I set the BIOS to boot from PCIe, or as Dell has it "PEG" and tried it in PCI, but neither worked.. the adapter was plugged in, and I tried the card a few times, swapped them back and forth... how do I do a BIOS reset? what exactly does that do?

Have you cleaned out the old display drivers and installed suitable AMD drivers for the 4650?
I believe they came with an Nvidia Graphics card from new, and that system is quite old tech now.
Edit: you will have to connect the monitor to the onboard graphics to detect the card and load drivers if there is no display from it.

I installed a fresh copy of Win10, apparently either I have to downgrade to an earlier Windows Version to use this card because the driver isn't supported (NVidia started complaining about that when I tried to install this driver) and there are no on board graphics for the 410..

You need to remove all Nvidia drivers and let Windows 10 find and install drivers for the AMD card. It should run with basic drivers in safe mode and you may need to use an old Display driver.

Sounds like it's dead then , it should at least give a video signal to access the BIOS even if something is screwed up with the drivers , they load at windows startup. I would try all the video out ports without any adapters to be 100% sure.
