Radeon X1300Pro - Counter Strike: Source freezes after 20 to 30min playing

Hi..
I just purchased Sapphire Radeon X1300PRO 256MB PCIe.
and bought CSS from Steam Powered, first PC game I ever purchased.
Love the card and the game, but my problem is that the game frozes after about 20 min or so playing, and getting VPU Recover error.
Reboot my computer, and ran ATITool in background.
Checked the temp before the game, Core is about at 70c.
After when game crashes, checked the temp for core. it's about at 90c or so.
is it normal?? or should I invest $$$ on Zalman VF-900Cu to cool it??

Installed latest Catalyst driver, I think it's a v6.6

Please help me with this problem.

the X1300PRO is just entry level, even overclocked it don't do much in new games, but on CSS it probabily works well
1 - do you have a well refrigerated case?
2 - is the stock cooler passive?

1 - How well does it have to be?? I'm working with my computer in the basement, and it's pretty cool down there. I would say it's about 73-75F. Front case fans pulls air in and I made about 15 holes in front of case to pull more air in(It's a 6 years old INWIN full tower case.)

2 - Yes. it is a stock cooler, but has fan on it.

don't know how much 73F is in Cº, try putting a normal dekstop fan directly into your case, and check the temps then, and play CS if the problem continues check if the cooler is making contact with the core, it could be misplaced

70 celsius is way too hot, is there a fan on the video card? If not get a small fan like you would find attached to your computer's case, and attach it over the heatsink of the video card. Zip ties work well

Thought so too.. so, I remove the side panel of the case, and it went down to 54 celsius, but still having problem playing CSS. So, I downgrade the driver to catalyst 6.5.
Left the side panel open, and play CSS for 2 hours with no problem.
Put the panel back on and left it idle, the temp went back to 68~70 celsius.
So, I just leave the side panel open since then...
Have no problem with the noise.. I'm surrounded by 2 Dell PowerEdge servers, and 7 workstations at my work.. I can deal with this small noise..
