RAM bandwith, lacking?

Just wondering if this is normal:

In everest read, i get around 7600MB/s with my 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 RAM (comp specs to side) OC'd to 975Mhz (5-5-5-13)

Now, with a single stick of 1GB, in single channel mode, i get 6400Mb/s

I thought the difference from single to dual channel mode would be a lot bigger than that (1200Mb/s)...but im not too sure.

Also, from 1GB to 2GB, i only got 3 FPS extra in CS:source stress test (from 149 to 152 :p)...now im pretty sure that its because the stress test wouldnt use the whole 1GB, let alone 2GB

Yeah, but the main problem is the everest read....is that right?

Sounds correct. When RAM is rated at pc2-6400, it means it has a maximum of 6400mb/s bandwidth. If you overclock it to 975mhz, the bandwidth should increase to 975*8 = 7800mb/s.

edit: in dual channel everything should be double what i just said

yeah, thats what i thought

so why is it only getting an extra 1200Mb/s in Everest from single to dual channel :confused:

But still wondering about the single vs dual in everest, cus even from the memory benchmark competition in TPU, my results seem a little low
