Ram bought w00t!

i just bought these

now maybe i wont have ram probs you see

i have 3 gigs 3x1GB sticks.....which is all fine and dandy except i have 2 samsung 400mhz ddr2 sticks and one 800mhz ballistix you see the prob is to keep 3ghz stable i cant run it for awhile because well 1 the samsung chips dont have heat spreaders and at 600mhz because of my multi and dividers is as low as i can get it i have to push 2.5v(max on the mobo) through it to get it to accept the 200mhz oc...and all this time the ballistix is 200mhz underclocked and accepting way more ram than is spec'd and the problem and instability comes from the fact that the samsung chips over heat and fail after a little bit even at the amazing only way to get it stable timings of

6-6-6-18-26....and of course not in dual channel mode

i think i may see a wee bit of a performance upgrade what do u think?

Why didnt you just get another ballistix stick?

because
1.i want dual channel but not in a 4 stick config hear that causes probs anyway.
2. i want 4 gigs because its better than 3 and future proofing in my book because i dont plan ddr3 for awhile

3. if i get 2 sticks with 4 gigs if i plan on ever using my lonely bryce 3dsmax poser of macromedia folders i wont have to worry about ram being an issue

4. now ill have an extremely quick pagefile

I personally would have gotten 4x1gb sticks...but if you were to get 2x2gb I would have at least went with Crucial, Patriot, or G.Skill...those OCZs have had some bad reviews in the past...

Edit: I've never had a problem OC'ing with 4x1gb sticks...but keep in mind it depends on the stick, board, cpu, etc. Sure I had to loosen my timings a hair, but the bandwidth made up for it.

well i love G. Skill personally i hate ocZ hate them unfortuneltely their wicked cheap their going on the credit card i have presents to get ppl and im tired of crashes now....so ultimately thats what helped me make my choice.

that and i like taking risks

Well I've never had a problem with OCZ, but there lower end kits have problems...I've had their platinum kits and never had a problem.

well as mrw said they got bad reveiws but hopefully they work flawlessely. if not well ill just wright a reveiw their and here hell iv been testing out everything else and telling ppl on this forum.

congratz solaris!

ive always owned OCZ products. ive used their value to high end/enthusiast RAM (all DDR) and have had no complaints. i had 4x512 of their value ram running @ 220 1:1 for the longest time before i learned that i could OC higher and be more stable with 2 stix vs 4. so i sold them and bought some VX's

its better to OC with 2 stix vs 4 because there is less stress on the mem controller.

ive been very pleased with the OCZ products ive used (save for the DDR booster) and the warranty and support is top notch.

i dont think youl be dissapointed at all.

I have the DDR2-800 2x512mb OCZ Platinum XTC and its real nice RAM. I just replaced it with Transcend AxeRAM DDR2-800 2x1gb. I had it running at DDR2-900 4-4-4-12 at 1.8v...its amazing RAM and I highly suggest it. Some people report having it running at DDR2-1066 5-5-5-13 at 2.0v. It's fairly cheap too for about $65 shipped and especially awesome for running at 1.8v.

thnx guys. ya i think they'll do good i mean the only thing im wondering is if it will oc well..i mean they are 2gb a piece so thats pretty dense hopefully they'll clock well while holding their timings....or tighter if not stable iv got plenty of v's to throw at it..what do you guys think i was hoping to get some more responses. i want to know what you guys think of the purchace i mean id always ask first here b4 buying unless it was g.skill cause i just love it the only reason i didnt this time is because personal constraints made these sticks the only option available.
