First off your statements lack major detail, and second i don't see any price change in memory as far as DDR2/3 goes unless you want Corsair garbage....

Have you bought any memory recently? I did and I see a difference when I paid 30 dollars shipped for one stick, then a week later I paid 40 dollars for another stick of the same ram shipped. I have bought this ram for literally as far back as 3 years ago.
It was always cheaper and now all of a sudden it went up in price.
You need to see a newegg invoice to prove it? I do have one but I don't feel like dealing with it for something I know is true..

I did take an economics class. There was a brief section about price fixing and collusion. If you think any of the manufactures care for consumers (any more than making money from them), you are mistaken.

there are several reasons , there was an economic crisis last year (at highest level ) rams sold under production cost , some manufacturers went bankrupt and closed (their stock dumped to market at loss last year but there are less manufacturers at market now) , manufacturers swicthed to more profitable areas like flash .
And there is an usual circle happens every ram switch : sd--->ddr , ddr-->ddr2 at every switch new ram type starts with higher prices than prices go equal later old ram gets expensive than new one .Probably ddr2 will get more expensive while ddr3 getting cheaper

I remember last year I got 4GB of Kingston HyperX 1066 for 38 quid; now they're close to £100. And DDR3 is not getting cheaper like they said; this is what's stopping me from upgrading.:ohwell:
