Hola amigos,
My old man is in USA so i have the chance to buy more RAM ,im now using 2x4gb. The issue is my CPU Cooler is blocking a RAM Slot so i cant add 2 more in Dual Channel, i'd have to remove the ones installed now. So im looking for a 2x8gb Ram deal, What do you recommend?

Edit: Quick question, are you actually running that Kingston Predator (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 memory at there rated DDR3-2400 clock speed?

Edit2: Honestly I think your alright with the 8GB you already have if the purpose of your build is spent playing games.

How can i know if am running it at 2400mhz? you got me there
Ok thats some relief, in case i wanted more speed I guess an SSD is better. I read that you needed 16gb for todays games

Thats a nice though señor diablo, why would doing that be better?

If i add the 2x8gb + the 2x4gb i have now, does that mean there will be 2 dual channels? im not sure if its better to just use 2 rams together

Turning the cooler around will only free the ram slots up, it shouldn't affect the cooling.
You can run dual channel by alternating the ram you have, ie: 8Gb, 4Gb, 8Gb then 4Gb again.
Of course that depends on the lay out of the slots, some dual channel run side by side 8,8 then 4, 4. Check the slot numbering and your manual.

i have the GPU on my second PCIE Express Slot, because the other one is broken, i think they are the same speed

The manual, and site, state that the first slot is x16 and the second is x8.

You might want to check it with something like GPUz. Run the render test (click the "?" beside the "Bus Interface line) to see if it goes to x16.
Probably not bothering you, if it is at x8. Someone with more experience in this area could, probably, state yea or nay on any performance hit.

i wonder if i can fix this slot

Yes, if,,,
1. The pads and traces are not to damaged (If they are you will need to contend with that, too.)
2. Your de-soldering and soldering skills are good.
3. You have the proper tools. (de-soldering station, solder wick, solder sucker, etc.. And, a good soldering station, iron, etc.)
4. Get the correct part (any electronics parts place should be able to order it; or, get it at ebay, aliexpress, etc.) You could, also, try to salvage one off a dead motherboard.
5. Have patience!

Or, find another mb at a good price or upgrade.

Whatever you decide... Goodluck to you.

Ok i found the GPU render test but i cant runt it because i dont have dxdx9_43.dll, long story short, the other thay i had issues running a game on steam so i downloaded this DLLs and copied them to System 32, i hope i didnt mess it up more :(, so GPUZ sends me to a link where i can download these files but it doesnt work.

About the Slot i have some High res pics where you can see more clearly the damage:

I dont have any soldering skills so id have to find a friend that knows. Buying another MoBo would mean another CPU too, i was going to buy a 1070 so id be bankrupt xD
IDK if Gigabyte has a tech repair site in my country, but if i buy the pin connector i might send it to any repair store, though there is a risk too

Try this to see if you can update that DirectX: DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer

That slot does not look to bad... Off hand I don't see any damage to the board. It seems an easy fix. Sorry, I am not in your country or I would try to help.
Best to find a good repair shop and let them fix it, if you need.

Thats great news ! I'll buy that pin and then find somewhere to fix it
the direct x installed fine but i still get an error in GPUz, i will keep trying tomorrow

Coming back to the main topic, which 2x8gb ddr3 Rams would you recommend ? now that we solved the Cooler issue there is more freedom to choose.
gracias for your help

Chances are your current DDR3 is running at the default safe/compatible JEDEC profile (DDR3-1333.) If you want to have your DDR3 RAM running at it's advertised clock speed of 2400 MHz you will need to enter the motherboard firmware (UEFI Setup) and turn on the XMP setting.

Took the above from the manual for your board.

Edit: If you plan on keeping your existing Kingston DDR3, and filling the other two vacant slots then ignore the above since with all slots filled your going to end up running at Intel's max supported speed of DDR3-1600.

ok i have one last question about the Ram , here on the manual page 16 it says how to use dual channel, from left to right i goes like 1,3 and then 2,4 , i have the current rams on 2,4.
adding 2x8GB ballistic is enough performance increase or should i go for the 4x8 gb?
@biffzinker you said 8 gb was enough for gaming but what about browsing and multitasking? im also going to buy an SSD as you may know, so maybe thats enough speed boost
Edit: i read that having matching rams is better, but predators are a bit expensive i dont know why

Better question would be what programs are you running on your system besides playing games? Is your PC constantly swapping from RAM to the page file on your hard disk drive? Running any programs that benefit from more than 8 GB?

Either sell your Kingston for a dual channel set of 16 GB or add another 2x4GB/2x8GB of DDR3- plus the Kingston for 16/24 GB. Technically your better off filling only two slots instead of four slots otherwise if you fill your last remaining slots you can skip on the overclocked RAM.

not that many programs , only many tabs while browsing and video editing rendering once in a while. i dont know if more than 8 gigs will make a noticeable difference. I read that some games benefit when having more Ram.
option 1 seems the best so far, id go for the Ballistics, otherwise if i go option 2 and add another 2x8 of matching Predator RAM, would i be able to OC the RAM then?
