lo all i got 4gb of ram in my mobo and its only showing up 3gb of ram is this cos my gfx card has a 1gb of ram on it?

If you have a 32 bit OS windows only reports and uses a max of 3GB. To use 4GB or more you need a 64 bit OS. Motherboards also have a limit but its usually no less the 8GB I'd Reckon.

No its because you have a 32bit OS which can only handle up to 3.5GB RAM (around that).

Yep, What MRCL said. And the other thing is You have WIN XP which uses addres space for the ram on your graphics card. If you install Win 7 even the 32-bit will show you at least 3.5Gb.
