Computer: Intel (R) Pentium (R) Dual cpu
E220@2.406hz
2.42 GHZ, 2.00 GB of RAM
Windows xp

Ever since I replaced the fan (with heat sink) the computer has randomly shut down and then restarted, at first during streaming, and now, will shut down and restart anytime. I tried to replace the graphics card to no avail.:mad:

One suggestion was to replace the RAM.

Any suggestions on how to repair my computer?

If the only change you made was the CPU cooler before you got these issues, you answered where to go to solve the problem.

I am going to guess you either have a clearance issue with components around the CPU socket, the mounting you did is too tight, or possible the CPU just needs to be re-seated.

Check the temps make sure no Tim is leaked into the socket.

I reinstalled fan and heatsink three times. Is it something else?

Lets say you have a clearance issue and it is lifting the base of the cooler enough to let the CPU overheat. I would slap the stock cooler back on and see if the issue goes away or not.

You mentioned the temps seemed ok, maybe the back plate for the new cooler is shorting on the motherboard, or adding it into the case is flexing the motherboard.

Listen to yourself... you give the best possible clue to your own problem.

Not, necessarily, you could be repeating the same mistake, over and over, not realizing it is a mistake.

My resident expert used speed fan? and said everything was ok.

I would wonder about your resident expert, if you are still having problems.

Like was said before, by a few posters, if the problem started after you change the fan and heatsink; then, that is, more than likely, where your problem is.

How much TIM (thermal interface material) was used. Or, was it used at all.
What HSF did you install on which board?
Run Realtemp and Prime95 (Windows 32-bit), take a screen shot of the temps at, both, idle and while Prime95 has the processor loaded up and post them.
