What cooler are you getting? If it's stock don't expect to go far. Try and find a Xigmatek S1283 series, they are seriously the best air coolers for the money.

Depends on the cooling you have souldnt get over 60-65c on load is a good temp

Look, I wasn't trying to turn anyone against the "kid", but this is a forum for people to respect each other and that includes him respecting the kind of thought people here will give him. I game pretty seriously, and I bet others on TPU do as well. We're not making the internet serious business but this is how adults communicate.

He is about to use a GTS250 1gb, now i don't know anything about these brick house looking new pcie cards( and i never will , because i never plan to buy one myself ) , but he is also about to use a Quad, he should be able to play Crysis at 1280x1024 high settings and get between 30-50.

Go for the Dual Core; you can easily OC the CPU with even a semi-decent cooler, temps shouldn't be above 40 - 50 degrees (thats safe for a modern CPU) running at 4 GHz. Make sure your PSU can handle it as well!

Also, since you're buying from MSY, be careful to break anything BEFORE the 7 day warrenty ends...

Yeah... Sure he will... 1280x1024 sure but make that 20-45 fps.

My foot; my 9600 GT (overclocked) can play Crysis with 1440x900 all high settings (including PhsX) with playable FPS (20 - 30), and considering that the GTS 250 is just under twice as powerful as my 9600 GT he should be able to game fine!
Especially if its backed up by a powerful dual core.

Yup lol Overclocking will not kill the chip tho. The only way to kill a CPU is to pump 1.6-1.9v into it for a long period of time.

If gaming is your theme than you will not have to worry about a CPU upgrade for a while, atleast a year. Forget about the E8400 we are just extreme people that love to overclock the shit out of our hardware, the E8400 is not needed. Be happy with your rig because its a good gaming system.

its not an e8200, its a q8200. A much slower chip. And he hasn't bought the stuff yet. He is planning on buying it soon.

If you OC an E8400, even with a basic aftermarket cooler, it will be fine!!
My E5200 is running at 3.8 GHz atm, temps have never gotten above 50 degrees and this is with an average cooler (thermaltake mini typ 90).
