Razer recently introduced their Essential lineup with cheaper variants of the DeathAdder and Abyssus mice. This review is of the DeathAdder Essential, which features the same iconic shape, but with a mid-level optical sensor, single-color lighting, non-rubberized sides, and a more friendly price tag compared to its bigger brother.

Yes! A Razer mouse review!

I've been rocking my DeathAdder 2013 since, well, 2013, and love it still.

A little disappointed by the price of this mouse given the build quality and lower-end components.

I would be interested in seeing how this el-cheapo version stacks up against their current "Elite" version of the mouse.

The software, the cloud and the absence of on board memory makes Razer a non option to me.

For the price, I cannot see why this exists, as Basilisk offers more roughly for the same price, got mine for 50€. And the most importantly it offers on board presets, you don't have to use the dreaded synapse, program and forget it - plug and play.

I had one of those (or same specs) It lasted me around a year and developed a double-click issue -It would double click instead of single click, making it unusable, otherwise it was fine.

I got a Logitech G403 to replace it and its been flawless (around a year)

Just got the elite a few weeks ago for 39.22 total and free shipping (bestbuy + Google express coupon). Came from the 402 and like elite much more.

The Elite is a million times better. I wouldn't buy this one personally, while I'd gladly use the Elite.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
It's still an expensive mouse, which makes it unappealing with the double-hit of mediocre components and nasty cloud-based drivers.
