Frank Azor is the Alienware dude.
The more important thing is AMD is using TSMC. You won't believe me when I say this, but TSMC likely has better packaging resources than hot headed Samsung. There could arise problems even for the sudden change. TSMC allows IP buildup, but there is zero mention of infrequently changed blocks being transferable to a contemporary foundry. Good luck Nvidia.

Well, if it flops, there will certainly be enough stock to go around :p

(I'm sure it will not flop, but it will disappoint those that expect something radically different then RDNA. This will be a tweaked RDNA, with bolted on DXR instead.)

Soon, my padawans, your doubts and fears that have led you to the dark side for far too many years... you will finally know light once again. The Jedi have been in exile, but October 28th they return. Be patient my friends, soon we will be free of Intel and Nvidia forever.

Jedi generally uses green or blue lightsabers....
Nvidia and Intel are green and blue, respectively.

Sith generally uses red lightsabers....
AMD is red

I'm going crazy!

Are you 12 years old? Honest question.

The plot thickens...

I hate to quote wccf but whatever...the tweets are odd...

Update: Frank has denied making any supply guarantees. The bet was only about it not being a paper launch. Because of this, we aren't sure what the bet was all about because NVIDIA launched with some volume as well - and technically wasn't a paper launch either.

Indeed, if Nvidia had a paper launch, why are people moaning about their cards crashing to desktop much to the joy of the AMD fans?

Food for thought.

I read the posts, but it's hard to see the silliness when your ruse is off the mark. You literally called AMD "Jedi" - yet AMD is red. Red in Star Wars is a Sith color. The same with Nvidia and Intel being "Sith", yet they're green and blue, which are Jedi colors.

I'm just hoping AMD isn't off the mark when it comes to the launch of their GPUs. Hopefully they have inventory that's not gobbled up within seconds and something that's just as good or better than the 3070 (barring actual reviews) and in the $500 and under price range.

Actually you are wrong, in one of the books a Jedi does use a red saber.

Red sabers were only for sith during times of war, but when the Sith were thought to be extinct, some Jedi's did begin to use a red lightsaber and it was even common at one point from what I remember reading.

Y'all need to get skill and learn to chill, lulz

That is called gaslight. Jedi are known to trick individuals into giving up their individuality. They play mind games on their victims to push their motives.

lulz. sure thing buddy. some Jedi did for sure, but not all, and not the majority when spread out over time, just as not all Sith were actually bad. learn how to assess without generalizing, it will help you out

Listen to me. They skew the perception of bystanding onlookers.
Don't be a pawn of the jedi council. You must break through the fog of lies the jedi have created around you.

They can confirm whatever they want. In the end they'll probably use the same excuse as Nvidia - massive interest and bots.
Want to generate hype? Tell em you've got a whole bunch of engineers working on getting the drivers ready for launch day. No green screens, no black screens just proper drivers that work.

You realise the Nvidia launch already has its C2D rumours while you're ranting ironically.

I'm not raining down on somebody you know someone's parade, but a different foundry and packaging means bye bye quality assurance standard of production, right? People stick to their suppliers and build lasting relationships for a reason.

This is so definitively a 1st world problem, I cannot wrap my head around it.

And you guys wouldn't believe me @R-T-B, such a noob I was...

Am I defending Nvidia somewhere? The main thing that always gets mentioned with AMD are drivers and technical issues. Everyone knows that GPU side is the bastard child next to the CPU team at AMD. They can promise whatever they want but if on day one this will be more of the same they won't beat a thing.
Nvidia has its own issue, this launch is one example (same deal with original 20-series, only on a smaller scale). Yet suddenly AMD fanboys forget how AMD's past launches looked like:

Hmmm constant driver issues or dead GPU's after a month or so, take your pick folks, needless to say you'll be called a fanboy and berated either way, it's the nerdy way!
