I picked up a retail WD Caviar Green 2TB recently at Micro Center. The only accessory it came with that isn't included with OEM drives is 4 screws (which some OEM drives actually come with).

i have never seen a oem hdd with screws not even 2tb wd black

Me enither I just bought two: Western Digital Intern Hårddisk Caviar Green 2TB (IntelliPower / 64MB Cache / Sata 6Gb/s / NCQ) nothing besides anti-static bag.

One for mom and one for the HTPC.

I recall warranties used to be different between OEM sold drives and retail drives (even though they are the same effin drive)

from what i know ur right as with all OEM based hardware but i have never seen a retail hdd in 5 years of pc building

Frys electronics, best buy, Comp USA, Micro Center are just 4 to name.

we have a lot but none of them that i know of sell retail hdds other then internal ones.

thats what we are talking about is Internal whether IDE or SATA.

Less you Meant External HDDs then those are commonplace (Still slow)

Yeah in Aus, we don't have too many Big Chain Computer stores, all we have are dodgy "electronics" stores, like dick smith, that just sell Laptops and Prebuilt Stuff, and all the other odd bits, like games, tv's, audio system's etc.

I seem to recall that Maxtor and WD had retail HDD boxes; I might still have my Caviar Blue 500GB box (6 years and running :rockout:

) Never seen a boxed Samsung or Seagate though.
