Really bad audio quality at lower ShadowPlay bitrates

I'm using NVIDIA ShadowPlay to record my antivirus tests. It's convenient and it just works. At first I was using 1080p at 50Mbps bitrate and it was kinda ok in general. I've tried trimming down recorded file size by decreasing bitrate to 25Mbps. I'm recording desktop, so I don't really need insane bitrate, but it turns out, using 25Mbps bitrate for video also introduced loads of audio artefacting over my narration.

Which makes me wonder, why doesn't NVIDIA offer separate audio quality control? In my case, I'd need high audio quality but only moderate video bitrate quality. And yet I'm forced to use insane video bitrate just to compensate for that in audio. And yes, I know ShadowPlay is meant for game recording, but still. Serves the purpose just fine, considering I got it with my expensive graphic card.

Why not just use handbrake to re-encode the higher bitrate video and be done with it.

I just tested two recording, one at 50Mbps and the other at 25Mbps and both had the exact same audio bitrate(192Kbps CBR AAC). Which is really more than enough for pretty much anything in stereo. In fact, even when I go all the way down to 10Mbps the audio stays exact the same. So there has to be something else going on here.

You can verify this yourself by using a program called MediaInfo. It will tell you everything about the codecs and bitrates used in a media file.

I couldn't notice any difference either. Anyways, perfectly you should record audio track separately, process it and then add to video. By doing so you could get much better results.

I confirmed @newtekie1 findings with my sons setup down to 10Mbps. Something else going on.
