Reccomend a good sound card in the $50 range

    for my friend... he says his onboard sound has problems with his ati 9600xt. And please don't post an Audigy 1... I had one, it sucked, sucked, sucked

    Those are both bad, thay claim to be x fi but they don't actually support it.

    Live 5.1 card will do just fine. As good as onboard sound, perhaps a bit better. If he's really into high quality sound, he'll be spending quite a bit more, but for casual gaming and music the Live series will do just fine. There's just not that much middle ground when it comes to sound cards without getting ripped off.

    Or I got a perfect good working 2 channel card out of one of my old Dells. Either one your choosing but like I said before PM me. I am at work right now and work evenings so the only time you could come get it is during the weekends.

    If your friend is using XP get a SB Xfi Extreme Audio. Yeah, it's alot like an Audigy but with more resistors and caps. I use one and the sound quality with my Sony MDR-V150 headphones is superb. What was the problem with your Audigy that made you not like it?

    I run Audigy 2 and its a fine card and hassle free. Cheap on ebay.
