Memory 32GB / 24GB
Video Card(s) Sapphire RX 6800 / AMD Radeon 290X (Toggling until 6950XT)

In about three weeks I'll be replacing my old 8350 rig that is eight years old and served me well. I'm going to be getting a 3800X which according to CPUz will double my single and multicore performance (roughly) and I'm very much looking forward to that!

TLDR:

  • Eight SATA ports would be very helpful until I can knock my SATA consumption down from 10 by switching to some NVMe drives or merging the 2x 4TB RAID 1s (4 drives total just for that). Might be able to get a couple 12TB drives in three weeks, we'll see how well my finances work out.
  • No WIFI (slot for WIFI with removable or missing WIFI is okay though).
  • No Intel anything (e.g. a lot of vendors are using Intel nics on the X570 boards, not cool).
  • Must have three (or more) NVMe slots that I will be populating with 2TB Samsung SSDs in the coming months (I don't care about migrating them to an addon card, I'm trying to reduce my SATA port number down from ten).
  • With a single double-slot video card the board must have at least four usable PCI-Express slots (max on seven slot with two cards can be up to five). I like having a dedicated audio card (quad channel music while I work and an extra slot of two as needs arise).
  • No Asus, I had to choose between RAID or USB and they replaced my brand new $400 motherboard with used garbage covered in...well, lets just say they're never getting any business from me again.

I've had a bit of trouble finding a motherboard that I really want. I absolutely do not want WIFI as my rig will be relatively close to me and I don't wan to burn my flesh with EMF microwave radiation. Unfortunately some nob at Newegg decided all the X570 motherboards must have WIFI. "You can just turn it off" NOPE! Because it's politics pushing it's way in where it doesn't belong I presume that the WIFI is always on even if you explicitly set it to off like a story about a modem I came across recently. Besides, real men use Ethernet and don't poison themselves of their loved ones.

Another thing that I really loathe is seeing Intel-anything on AMD / AMD related products. Every objective and knowledgeable person here knows that Intel intentionally prevents upgrades and makes people have to do rebuilds instead (replacing a motherboard is not an upgrade, that is a rebuild) because if you look at any Intel motherboard (by any brand) you're going to see a lot of chips labeled as Intel. I really do not want to give Intel a penny because they don't deserve my money and those vendors should know better!

I'm running 7 hard drives and I'm working to consolidate that so the eight SATA port requirement means I'll have to use external adapters until my budget allows me to convert the internal 1TB 2.5 SSDs to NVMe drives. No one had affordable 8TB+ drives eight years ago and I have not heard anything but nightmare stories with NAS such as 10 megabyte read speeds, drive capacity limitations and other nonsense. Eventually once SSDs hit 16TB I will reduce the drive count down to three (C:\ 1x, D:\ 2x RAID 1) though we're still a bit of a ways from that if you don't want to spend more than a grand for something along those lines.

I've been to Gigabyte, ASRock and MSI's websites and the options are a little limited and a bit compromised. Maybe I missed someone else (not including Asus). Suggestions please?

You won't hurt yourself with your home wifi, also you can disable or turn down the power of most onboard wifi, mine sits at arms length and doesn't bother me in the slightest (I haven't mutated or lost my kidneys going on at least 10 years exposure now) and it's 5ghz as well as 2.4 but I only run it at half power. Your cpu puts out more harmful radiation than your wifi.

The wifi/cellular signals that CAN hurt you are from cell towers which is just a nightmare, if you live near one (especially 5g) you probably have cancer.

I don't know of any x570 boards with more than 6 sata connectors except asus, my msi only has 4 but you can always add a sata expansion pcie card.

Intel nics on the X570 boards, not cool
actually intel nic is very cool as it is the fastest nic you can get w/o braking the bank in consumer space.
mbs with wifi usually have bluetooth packed with wifi card so if you need bluetooth have a look on them too.

why dont you leave hdds with 8350 as home/office nas. you have everything set up just get psu to power it up and set up remote desktop access to it. may be cheapo 20$ vga for display out put for jut in case

edit:
This is the only high end board without wifi and 8 sata ports as far as I know
in the vid buldzoid mentioned several mbs with 8+ sata ports. cant remember models thou

You're honestly acting like a lunatic. When it comes to NICs, Intel makes a good, reliable product that is fine to support. WiFi isn't going to kill you either. Even if it were, just open up your phone and see how many wireless networks it can already detect near you. If you're anywhere relatively populated there's probably like 8 networks around you already.

you're making life hard for yourself based on some real fanboy shit right here. Stop it and just buy something that fits your actual needs instead of trying to be the Alex Jones of computing.

I suppose OP is on an anti-Intel mission and doesn't want anything Intel related in his AMD build.

The board you're looking for doesn't exist you'd need to go with TX40/Threadripper to even come close to getting what you want.

yap i got that and it's pretty hilarious as technically in every amd cpu there are x86 instruction sets that are coming from intel.
he'd also want to use thunderbolt so that he can have this pc in closet while sitting on his desk. and thunderbolt totally is not intel proprietary connect

They're also founding members of PCI-SIG and USB-IF, and still have representatives on rhe boards of both, so if he's working this hard to avoid an Intel NIC, chances are he's going to want to avoid PCI-Express and USB as well, since Intel helped develop both sets of specifications and who knows WHAT they might have hidden deep in those x16 lanes...

Yes but he also wants to use 3 nvme drives which is impossible on X570 while using all sata ports.

80% of software too as it is compiled with intel compiler and intel definitely hid something there..

could be. tbh i didnt payed much attention on those boards as i dont see em very appealing outside of very few specific cases.
edit:
iirc there arnt x570 boards with 3 m2 slots. not 100% sure thou
gb aorus master & extreme and msi meg ace have. there are others too.
only one m2 slot is linked to cpu thou. others 2 are linked to the chipset

He want's 8 sata ports on the board and no wifi and 3 m.2 slots as far as I know this combination doesn't exist but I could be wrong.

No Asus and no intel.
Also 4 usable pcie Express slots...

The closest would be the Godlike but it only has 6 sata ports 2 get disabled if using 3 m.2 and you can only use 3 of the 4 pcie Express slots as far as I know.

"All" SATA ports means all ports possible through the chipset. Your board, with 4, does not use all possible chipset SATA ports. IIRC the CPU has 4 ports, with the chipset having the option for another 4+4 (each set of four is part of a "pick one" set of 4 SATA ports, one x4 PCIe (or m.2), or 4 x1 PCIe lanes). In other words, enabling more than the base SATA ports reduces your available m.2 slots.

The OP is likely best off getting a PCIe SATA controller. And taking off the tinfoil hat.

I absolutely do not want WIFI as my rig will be relatively close to me and I don't wan to burn my flesh with EMF microwave radiation.
That ... oh dear. For WiFi to "burn your flesh" you'd need to amplify it by ... let's say 100x. At least. Likely a lot more.

You're conflating two entirely different things here. Yes, Intel has a long history of shady business practices, and their standard "new CPU = new motherboard" mode of operations is not at all friendly to users, the environment, or anything else beyond their profit margins. But regardless of that, there being Intel-labeled chips on motherboards has zero to do with this. The reason for there being Intel-branded chips is, well, Intel making a lot of different chips. Their NICs are really good. If you don't like it, find a board with a Realtek or Aquantia one. There's still reason to not want to give Intel any money, but honestly, the $2 they get for an Ethernet chip is really not something they care a lot about.

For example Asrock X570 Taichi has 8 sata's and 3 M2 ports which by their description can work all together! Also their older top series mobos for Ryzens has 8 or 10 sata's and 1-2-3 M2 which can also working all together. And I am almost sure that other brands top models has enough ports working together w/o issues, this is not consumer intel platform which disables almost all sata ports in favour of m2 drives....

Good catch, it disables the bottom pcie slot and limits you to X16 lanes though.... it also has both Intel wifi and Intel lan which the OP thinks will kill him....

no matter these, he will have so much sata and m2 ports, and this matters for his all hdd's and future m2, doubt the bottom slot will be in use anyway.... and if you want full length pci-e, then treadripper or intel hedt is the choice..

  • Currently at 7 drives, will be getting 3x12TB with the core components so I'll be able to remove 4x4TB (2 RAID 1s) and knock it down to 5 drives before the NVMe so still below the need for Threadripper.
  • The four extra SATA ports are for C:\ solo SSD (1 SATA), Blu-ray drive (1 SATA) and 2.5/3.5/USB 5.25 bay adapter (2 SATA). I can live without the 5.25 bay adapter until I can replace the D:\ SSD RAID 1.
That being said only a couple people here seemed to actually make an attempt to help out and I want to thank them for making an effort. While I'm willing to budge on an Intel nic I don't think anyone who bothered to make the effort actually reframed from insults. Then there were the rest of the comments. Those same people won't comprehend a film like Dr. Strangelove but they won't have to worry about their cancer if the globalists are able to get away with the domino cascading effect of a global economic crash in which most people will be starving to death any way. I don't adhere to what people think I should adhere to, I adhere to the truth even if there are people whose egos are too bloated to comprehend the truth. Since those people effectively killed this thread and I have better things to do with my time than argue with people who place egotism above intelligence I'll simply sign off with the following video so the intelligent people with the capacity to learn will understand what happened here.

I love that you're so confident in telling us how smart you are, when you've clearly failed to understand what dunning-kruger actually means, and your posts are full of grammatical/spelling errors and leaps of logic.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Mr. Jones.

Whoa!! love the feelings. Business conducted by motherboard manufacturers do not care about YOUR feelings unless you can have everyone feel the same as you to make a difference.

That said, you might have to set your feelings aside to really get close to your build requirements. It's not going to be easy for anyone here to help, just keep in mind, YOU asked for the help. So do the best you can to accept suggestions from people without feelings getting in the way. Look at the hardware and it's capabilities more so than a brand name. Most brands are good enough to be fitted on a board, so accept the Intel NIC and try not to dwell on it unless it fails to work.

ANYHOW!!!
I couldn't find a suitable board while looking from top to bottom models, it seems there is a restriction that would upset your purchase in one way or another.

Could you maybe put up a budget? Perhaps try to keep it as strictly business without any bad feelings, but judge the suggestions based on your needs??

GLHF!

Done is done, terrific job (sarcasm) to all who helped make this a disaster.
