I am in the market for a new LCD display. So I am looking for one that is 24" under 6ms response and has resolution of 1920x1200 and below $600usd. The below links are the best I could find. I use my monitor mainly for gaming.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824179047

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001275

ANy other suggestions? Any personal opinions on the above? I am really interested in the Hyundai, however there are no reviews on this monitor. I did find a video clip/sales pitch from tigerdirect, but no customer reviews.

Thanks in advance! :toast:

Do not do 1080p monitors. a 1920x1200 monitor can do both 1080p and 1920x1200. 1080p cant. Other than that, my DCLCD has been great, Acer is top (DCLCD uses ACER panels)
The thing to do when searching for a monitor is to check the integrity of the panel in previous monitors
The panel used is what matters. There are probably 400 different models of 1920x1200 24" monitors, but only very few of the same model panels. Check the history of the panel of the monitor you want.

Every single monitor you had up are overpriced. Get one under $300, probably close to 250.

Just my opinion, but out of the 3 you have selected, my personal choice would be the Samsung. I have owned a lot of different brands of monitors, and out of all of them, Samsung has always been the best for me. Acer is not a bad brand, but I feel that most Sammies have better pictures. I have absolutely no experience with Hyundai monitors, so can't help there. Good luck with finding what you want. So many choices out there.

Thanks. I do have a good graps of resolutions. Which is why I am looking for a 1920x1200. I did look at the monitors your suggested, my problem is with so many reviews I figured it was a aging product and had older technology. Also I have heard bad things about the Sceptre Brand. Also that asus is 1920x1080... I guess I need to point out one other requirement. I do a lot of coding and really like when I can Flip the display 90 degress for a great coding environment.

From what I have read IPS panels are the best right now, although they are prone to ghosting and have substandard response time. There are so many choices. To many choices and not a single source for good reviews.

How about this NEC. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824002462

I have to agree with him on the Samsung. I would recommend them to anyone in the market. I have a 22" with 2 ms and it is fantastic. I would definitely buy another Samsung when the time comes.

I have the 22" Samsung of that model and I can agree with HolyCow, it's a great monitor.

My buddy just bought the 24" one you have posted there and it is just as great as mine, just the higher resolutions.

Yeah I currently have the Samsung 214B and its been a great monitor 4:3(1600x1200). Plus it has a fully adjustable screen.

The only thing Im not happy about is they both use TN displays...

I'm looking too...but it seems that if you want the newer tech it's about 4 times as much money. Not sure if I want to jump on that.

I have no problem spending extra on a quality displays. I spent well over 400.00 for my current display, Samsung 214T and it has been an excellent monitor. But now that the new resolutions are becoming more main stream I think its time to jump ship from the 4:3 ratio to the 16:10 @1920x1200. Im not ready for the 2560x1600 30" display, I just feel that is to big for close up gaming, and thier response times are in the 16+ms range.

No point in having nice gaming rig and a crappy monitor. Not that the 214T is crap, its still a great monitor...just limited to 1600x1200, and I want to make this system work a little harder. Im pretty sure I can run 1920x1200 with no problem.

So I went to a store and checked all the monitors out. I was amazed I didn't get a Samsung or LG, rather I ended up with a Gateway FHD2401. When I saw this sitting next to the Samsung and the LG it had the better picture. It is an excellent monitor so far, very responsive in games and looks just amazing. No dead or Stuck Pixels! Finally gaming at 1920x1200. Very nice. Thanks for the replies.

Older technology? how older technology, 1920x1200 is 1920x1200, and 60HZ is 60HZ, 2-5 MS is 2-5MS, etc... technology hasn't increased, in fact, I'm willing to bet the monitors you have up there have the exactly same LCD panels as some that I have there.
But hey, if you want to spend more of your hard earned money, I'm not going to stop you, it is good for the economy, therefor good for me. In that respect, I recommend the overpriced Hyundia, a manufacturer that has no experience with LCD displays!

4 eggs, but with close to 500 buys, it is proven tried and true.

I say get either if you don't want to hook-up a gaming console or watch blu-ray movies... but if you do, get the 1080P, your get the full 24" when doing so... Who wants a 1920x1200 res if they have the 1920x1080? What I mean is there is no real advantage of the 1920x1200 compared to the 1920x1080... all games support 1920x1080!

Also, great choice (the ASUS)...

OP, you got to realise spending insane amounts of money for a GAMING monitor is just plain stupid. I don't want to insult you at all though, so don't take this bad, but spend all that money when you can get a similar monitor or better, ESPECIALLY for your needs, for a lot less, common sense tells you to buy the cheaper monitor...

lol. No one is reading.

I already purchased a Gateway FHD2401. Got a good deal on it as well. $385.00. So I didn't spend all that much. Got a nice monitor I am happy with. Thanks!

No, I think we did see that... at least I saw it... Just that the price doesn't justify the TINY performance increase...; at least for your needs... we just don't like to see wasted money... Imagine someone bought an i7 965 with 2 gtx 295 solely for web browsing... you understand?

Anyways, heppy you like your monitor.... and that you have the freedom of throwing out your money like that...

What tiny performance increase? You mean going from 1600x1200 to 1920x1200? Not a big deal my old monitor is replacing a 17" lcd in my guest bedroom. So its a win:win:win.

Yeah its only an extra 384,000 pixels, not much... My system was maxing out 1600x1200, may as well make my system work harder. The real Overkill was my system running @ 1600x1200.

Sorry, wasn't meaning to troll. I just like good deals. Good luck with your monitor!

nono I was comparing the 24" ASUS at 250$ compared to yours now... anyways, if you are happy with it, that's what counts... I just don't like wasting money... I'm kind of crazy about saving money xD Enjoy high res gaming!

so have you noticed the crispness in comparison? I've been wanting to go for a bigger monitor and a new gpu but haven't felt the need yet. (translation haven't got a foothold in hell to justify the cost to my wife)

Quick answer is Yes!

After pluggin in the Monitor, doing a little color correction/brightness...I launched FarCry and Crysis warhead. Both running 1920x1200 4x AA and maxed out.

My games have never looked so good! The difference between 5ms and 2ms makes everything cleaner, less blur. The extra width of the screen is even more immersive. You can almost feel the leaves of the plants touching your face when running through the jungle. :laugh: Seriously though, huge improvement.

Wow!! You are totally and completely wrong.

1920 = width, so the same width
1200 = height, so bigger then 1080.

1920x1200 is a larger and superior resolution compared to 1920x1080..

Simple math really.
1920x1200=2304000 pixels
1920x1080=2073600 pixels

If you mean it appears wider, because it is narrower...then yeah, sure.

I have to agree with him on the Samsung. I would recommend them to anyone in the market. I have a 22" with 2 ms and it is fantastic. I would definitely buy another Samsung when the time comes.

I have the 20 inch version, purchased yesterday. I haven't stopped drooling and the picture quality is immense, especially the contrast.
